Sucks that Ford doesn't see the opportunity, I still think an AWD turbo focus could be a great seller here stateside -if its done right
Actually, I believe under the current homologation rules, the JDM and EDM 2.0l non-turbo Imprezas are what are used for homologation purposes. We don't have one of those here.

In fact, I believe most other companies use a 1.8-2.0l non-turbo FWD car to homologate their cars for WRC now that the homologation rules are so lax.

Where would Solberg go?

Ford is full and so is Citroen.

I don't see peugeot comming back soon.

So unless he is going to start a private company team and use the Ford or the Citroen car. I don't see anywhere better.

Subaru just needs to get the new car together before Finland to give him a chance at the Championship.

Rumors have him linked to the factory Citroen team.

And I'm sure they would make room for him one way or another.

Pons has not being driving too amazing this year.

He has only scored points in one round.

Sardo is tied with Solberg on Drivers points this year.

So I think it would be hard to say

WRC driver Macrus Gronholm to retire end of 2007 wrc session

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...4009/1531/FREE

======
"This has been an incredibly hard decision for me to make," said Grönholm. "Rallying has been my life for so many years and when the Monte Carlo Rally comes round in January to start next year's championship, it will feel strange not to be there. But the time is right for me to finish now. I wanted to stop while I still had the speed to win rallies. I didn't want to leave the decision too late so that I wasn't capable of winning any longer.

======

It was a very sad news to me. Make me want to cry.
Marcus has been a strong team player for the 07 Ford RS team.
Even I have been a fan of Sabestian Loeb for last few years.
Marcus has shown his team work and maturity across 07 WRC session.
A tribute to one of the great wrc driver.

"... stop while I still had the speed to win...".

I am sad to see him go but I think it is a good decision.

I would like to see him knock Loab off his high horse and win the championship this year.

Have you ever read much on Marcus and his history. He was a Motocross star that was getting to injured to keep racing motocross, so he started Rallying.

Sound like anyone in the U.S.?

Also his father was killed in a rallying accident and he thought he would never be a ralliest.
