Rally Preperation?? Thoughts/Ideas??

So Im not sure im looking to get into any hardcore rally races, but I would love nothing more than to be able to smash through some miles of open dirt, hills and mud. However something is telling me that my car will overheat/blow my turbo or something else major.

So my question is, what type of preparation must take place to be ready for this type of driving?? Bigger inter-cooler for more efficient cooling? Adjusted timing or boost set up? More or less boost?

Let me know what you guys think, if you have any input, your knowledge would be much appreciated

I don't think he wants to do the organized stuff. I think he just wants to free range it? Correct me if I'm wrong OP.

Are you stock hight? What's the miles on your car? Auto or 5-speed? Any mods like a CAI?

If I were you I'd just take it out to carnegie.

I'm sort of in the same boat. Ever since I picked my car up I've wanted to get it dirty, but I don't wanna hurt it D:

Exactly, just some spirited free range driving to get a little dirty. Im dropped on Cobb springs (soon to be replaced with coil-overs this month) 75k on the motor, 5 speed, COI, turbo back exhaust, TGV deletes, front and rear sways.

****Pretty interesting stuff here****

just my quick 2 cents. first things id upgrade would be skid plates and tires and rims if you could. i have a 03 wrx that i only use for rally and i beat the living crap out of it! and have been for the last 4 years. that includes a couple rally x`s, jumping, doing 100 mph on dirt, basically anything and everything. and she has held up great! only thing to break was my struts 3 years ago but since i upgraded to 07 sti suspension its held up fine. and i have a full custom 3/16 high strength aluminuim skid plate under my car. keep it safe and keep it dirty
