well its been a very hot topic on the "other" site. so i thought i would give the updates over here too.
after saturdays stages heres how the leader board looks:
1. P SOLBERG 3:09:13.6
2. F DUVAL +17.9
3. C SAINZ +22.4
4. C MCRAE +1:15.5
5. M GRÖNHOLM +1:23.6
6. G PANIZZI +1:26.5
7. T MÄKINEN +2:10.3
8. R BURNS +2:22.0
Petter won the last three stages today! simply amazing considering the shape his car was in thursday. ss11 found him only 3.2 seconds from 1st, and after his stage win on ss12, hes ahead by nearly 18 seconds!!!

and he wins!!! Petter Solberg has won his third rally of the year, fourth of his career!!! Loeb took all the stage wins sunday, but it wasn't enough to keep "Hollywood" off the podium. the subaru star now sits tied in 2nd with Richard burns (who happens to be returning to the 555 team in 04) beind new leader Carlos Sainz.
what an amazing rally. nearly out of it before it began with a crash during shakedown on thursday, his crew fixed the car with minutes to spare. Petter shared this comment after his win with wrc.com-
"Petter comes across as a carefree, happy-go-lucky soul but he was really shaken by his crash and has been pretty much living on adrenaline - and caffeine - since. "I've been so nervous," he admitted. "I haven't slept for two days, just been drinking a lot of coffee to keep awake."" -wrc.com
with two more rounds left in the championship, Spain and GB, things are looking great for Petter and the Subaru team. Spain could cause the most trouble, as the subarus and pirellis are not often great on the tarmac. however, if it rains, look another stellar performance. Rally GB will be a fitting conclusion to the season, as the 2002 GB was Solbergs 1st career win.

brilliant drive I have to say... just saw the coverage on speed.
wow is all I can say really, I've watched the last 5 rallies on speed and I never saw petter as depressed as he was on saturday. He looked absolutely terrifed. Can't blame him, those are some pretty serious cliffs on those stages... takes ***** of stanless steel to be a wrc rally driver. o_o
