2005 Rally America Championship Schedule Announced

Rim of the World hasn't jumped on board yet, it sounds like they are still in talks to do so. So, here is to hoping that it'll be included. I guess if it doesn't show up, I'll just have to hit up Pike's Peak instead

As has been the long standing tradition in U.S. rally, the 2005 National Championship schedule was announced this past Sunday morning at the Lake Superior ProRally in Houghton, Michigan. Eight of the nine events from the 2004 SCCA ProRally calendar are back in 2005 under the Rally America banner.

"We're very pleased to have such a strong contingent of events for the 2005 Championship season," Rally America Managing Director J.B. Niday said. "It’s our objective to continue to work closely with the event organizers, manufacturers, sponsors and competitors throughout this transition period to continuously improve the series for everyone involved.”

Negotiations are still in progress with the Subaru Rim of the World Rally, based in Lancaster, California. “We hope to have the organizers of Rim join the series,” Rally America President Doug Havir said. “They run an outstanding event and if we can iron out a few details with them, they will be a welcome addition to the championship. We’re also working with the Wild West International Rally to find a date on the schedule that meets their needs, which would give us the strongest calendar to be seen in years.”

Subaru of America representative James Han was present to iterate continued support from Subaru for the upcoming season. In an effort to support eligible privateers in 2004, Subaru had introduced its Subaru Rally Support Program under which the Rally Parts Support truck was established along with the expansion of the Subaru Championship Cup contingency program by offering Subaru parts funding assistance. Discussions are also in progress between Rally America and several other automotive manufacturers, with details to be revealed once they become finalized.

Blah, rim of the world is going to be a NASA rally instead of part of the "national championship". I'm honestly not that excited about that aspect of the whole scca/RA reorg, but it could be a good thing if we can shake up the rule book and get rid of some of the more rediculous rules.
