Opinions needed...

The model has chosen some of the images she loves from the shoot - well, at least ones she loves more than others, because I'm not doing post-production on 150 images - but has a few that she's left me with two choices.

I figured that people here seem to enjoy some of my model work, and I'd like to hear your opinion on helping this model make the decisions. Please understand that these images are UNEDITED and therefore I'm not looking for critique on the color correction, lighting, and technical merits of the images. I'm looking for your opinions on the subject matter and which image (of each pair) you feel is more creative, better composition, better pose, better expression, etc.

Instead of placing up a poll, I figure that the creative people here are intelligent enough to write a few words regarding their opinion on which of each pair is their favorite, and why. Please take a look at these, choose one from each pair, and let me know WHY you chose that one.

Thanks for your help.

-Gregory

My two cents...

Pair #1: I prefer the second photo because she's not looking directly at the camera.

Pair #2: First photo has a better facial angle, and the second one looks like she's swatting a mosquito on the back of her neck.

Pair #3: This one's tough... I'm drawn to the second one, but at the same time I'd have to say the bridge tower right behind her head adds somewhat of a distraction, more so than in the first pic.

Pair #4: I like the second photo better. Again, because she's not looking directly at the camera.

Same

#1: I liked the second photo as well. Her expression is much better with her not looking right at the camera and the shot looks more candid as opposed to be a professional photo shoot. Also, although it is kinda hard to tell, but with the wave crashing behind her it gives it a little bit more perspective and depth and shows that she as almost in the water as apposed to being atop a huge cliff.

#2: I think the first one is better. I think simply because you can see more of her face.

#3: I like the second pic. I have always been a sucker for the GG Bridge (I love pictures that incorporate the bridge either as the focal point or the background) and it almost seems like the first one is too close.

#4: This pair is tough. She has the super creepy eye thing going on in the first photo but great posture and expression. In the second photo her whole posture and expression are kinda "meh" it really looks like she is trying to pose for a picture and she just isn't into it. Her body language just says, "ugh". It is a tough call but I would go for the first one.

I didnt see this thread sorry...

Pair 1: Photo #2, she looks more wistful and at ease.

Pair 2: Photo #2, it has more of the pin-up playfullness in the pose itself, and the expression is more relaxed.

Pair 3: Photo #2, she looks as if she is freshening up to met someone.

Pair 4: Photo #2, in the first photo she looks forced or uncomfortable, it looks a bit goofy to me. The second is more candid, I like it.

Pair 1: I like the 2nd image, I think she looks more angelic there and you can see the angle of her face more clearly.

Pair 2: I like the first better because you can see her tattoo and she just has a more interesting, wistful expression. It looks more natural and less posed.

Pair 3: Definitely the first one, it looks less contrived and more like you just caught her checking herself out in the mirror.

Pair 4: Definitely the second pic...she looks a little freaked out in the first one, and as Rach said goofy. I like that you can see she's wearing an A line dress in the second pic, which adds to the whole pin-up feel. I actually wish you had angled the camera just a BIT further down so you could see the line of the dress a tiny bit more. Same with the shots in pair 2-I wish I could see just a bit more of the bodice of her dress.

1b for the same reason the Mrs. said
2b because you don't see her armpit
3a because the bridge popping out of her head is softer, but it still kind of looks like she's giving you the finger and it's hard to tell what that is in her hand at first
4a because as odd as the expression is, the expression in b doesn't work with that body posture

i dont usually critique subject matter because its very subjective to the viewer. In the first set, the models's hands and feet are positioned awkwardly. They need to be positioned in a way that directs the viewers eyes.

Set 2 has those annoying tree branches on the left side of the frame.

Set 3 has the GG bridge growing out of her head.

Set 4.. i dont really know what to say. its just a boring pose. (sorry but you wanted honesty)

I also noticed composition and lighting errors on most of them. Remember, placing the model in the middle of the frame causes a lot of dead space to either side of her. All the images have this problem.
