I am looking at purchasing a new point and shoot between 200-300 dollars. Everyone says Canon or Nikon etc. Can a pro photographer send me a link to an actual camera model sold at Best Buy, Fry's etc.?? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Im not a professional photographer but I used to work at Best Buy in the camera department for 3 years. Never really said anything about size or if you prefer AA vs lithium batteries. You should visit your local electronic store and get a feel for them. I like canon over majority of the brands out there so Im a lil bias.

Compact:
The Canon SD1100is has a compact metal body, simple design (lack of buttons, but does offer a lot of functions)offers image stabilization and is a fast camera. For video mode your stuck with a few options but does offer 640x480 30fps clips. Most of the Canon cameras offer a anti-glare and scratch screen which is nice. The price is 249.99$

If you want a compact design but with a pinch of more real estate, the Canon SD870is. It offers the same as the SD1100is but with a bigger screen at 299.99$
