Quick question: OEM MT oil, synthetic or conventional?

Also posted in impreza transmission forum, thought I would try here. The dealer mentioned is Wentworth in SE off of Burnside.

Just wanted to get final confirmation that the service advisor at the dealer I had my 60k (04 wrx, 5MT) service done at is a tool.

First gear has grinded a couple of times since the service (and never before, changed fluid with OEM at 30k), so after plenty of threads found on here regarding grinds with synth MT oil, I called and asked what they put in. He said it is 75w90 synthetic gear oil. I asked him to confirm that it was synthetic, and he says, "yes, the same as it came from the factory."

I'm going to go back tomorrow, talk to a tech hopefully, and ask what really went in there. If it was conventional oil, then maybe get them to ride around with me until I can get it to grind again.

But either way, I'll be switching out to go with the synchromesh cocktail I've read so much about. Any resolution/experience on how much of the GM stuf to add? I've read 3 oz and 1 qt.

Thanks,
Kevin
