Why does my Covad account with the same speed cost me $49 a month total cost?

Zipcon Package #1 768K / 128K $19.95
I pay $57.45 total a month for my service, and I challenge you to compare:
ftp://ftp.zipcon.net/policy.txt
and this
ftp://ftp.zipcon.net/agreemnt.txt
to your Covad Terms of Service. Zipcon is run by one guy out of his garage, literally. We get emails when *anything* happens to our service, and he is very quick to jump on problems. You can call the help number, and the voice that answers is always "Zipcon, this is Dan, how can I help you?", no voice-mail hell, and RIGHT NOW service. He runs a strict "don't ask don't tell" service, meaning I can run as many servers as I want, no questions asked (unless I start a spam business, then he'd have no problem shutting off my IP).
... not to mention the fact that Covad royally screwed me when I tried to change over to them, they spent 3 months (after telling me they would provide me service) trying to connect my service, the whole time charging me for service. Covad gives me a realllly bad taste in my mouth, and I won't go near them again.
I've looked at all my options, and considering I run a handfull of websites and email servers that rules out Comcast (who activly blocks servers) and verizon ($$$ for static IP addresses, business account) and Covad was ruled out by lack of service in my area (I would have used Speakeasy for ISP).

So what you are saying is that I can keep my ~1600k down ~322k up with zip with phone company charge included for less than $49 a month that I pay now?

Not sure where you read that.
* I was suggesting that for me, Covad was a poor choice.
* I was suggesting that users of QWEST in Seattle, Zipcon is a good choice.
* I was suggesting that people who are not parinoid of every little stray packet that crosses the threshold of their phone line and want to run server to provide websites and email (un-restricted), for their friends, Zipcon is a good choice.
Aaron has had great luck and good downloads with Comcast. More power to him.

Neither of those options fit my needs.

I only am with comcast because my Verizon DSL was really suck slow and there isn't anyone else that will come into the condo and offer service. Earthlink and Quest both said that they wouldn't hook me up because of the "filters" and "gains" (and some other funny words) that they use on the phone lines. And Comcast is the same $44.95/month as the Verizon/Slower DSL.
I Usually use www.angrykitten.com for all my hosting needs.

I would switch if it worked out to be better than what I have. Don't know if it would. I would love to get away from earthlink.
But I do get from $30-50 for every person I get to sign up with earthlink.

FWIW
I've been happy w/ blarg online services , and haven't had any problems w/ Qwest dlx 640k in 4+ yrs. Blarg is another roots/local isp w/ quick service at relatively affordable rates.
edit: considering all experiences with earthlink... Earthlink sucks licks butt (yes, I said licks) big time. Worse than MSN imho, at least w/ msn you can get through to some sort of functional phone support/representation.
