Damn, that sucks.

I've never heard of Subaru's catching fire. Was you turbo not covered, (no heat shield) , anything lose around the engine bay?

Well here's a cut and paste for ya. Hope the pics show.

this is what my dad calls "fried rice" kinda funny now but it wasnt at about 1 this afternoon. i had smelled fuel since like last night and didnt think much about it. so today i came home at lunch and was going to screw with it. so i started looking at it and went into my garage and heard it, went outside and there she was all lit up. so i called the fire dept. they came but said we had to just watch it becuase i had ammo in the glove box (box of shotgun shells and a full mag for my .040 glock) so it melted away to this ive got one on my phone im going to try and put on here of it while it was burning

The hole in the timing belt cover. Is it on the passenger side? If so, it might have been power steering fluid leaking out. That stuff is quite flammable. We have seen power steering fluid fires recently at our shop.

-BTW- I don't think the heat shield was realted to the fire, but you can trim the shield to fit back over the turbo and downpipe.

hmmm yeah it was on the passener side i brought it back to subaru and found out that the fan some how cut a hose and they replaced it unfortunatley for me that hose was not covered cause the warranty only covers hoses 60k under so i got my car back with a nice hole on the cover and subaru wont fix the cover gay thing is that my mechanic told me that the fire may have damaged the timing belt so basically subaru wants me to drive my car untill it breaks or something then replace my whole motor when that happens that sounds kinda stupid to me cause im sure that replacing the cover and timing belt wont cost as much a new engine. the subaru dealership wants me to call subaru canada and explain to them wtf happened and maybe they will do something about it. apparently they have never seen anything like this. that sounds kinda funny so they r say ing that im the first in canada to do this to their sti did the warranty cover those ones that u saw at your shop?
