Ya we need some before and after pics of your car! This is gonna be wayy sicker than my swap (02 WRX > 99RS). Mine should be going into the shop by the end of next week. Are you doing this whole thing yourself?
update
yeah ill post some picks of the car when i get home from work.
i just got the rest of the swap yesturday (v7 suspension, subframes, and my rear diff.. its huge compared to the rs) everything looks so much stronger (added weight mind you.. but a small price to pay for the strength required to handle this monster!
anyways, i do plan on doing everything myself.. but because i work full time now im finding it difficult to get this done in my projected timeframe... that and i need my car to commute
anyways, mechanicaly im not worried. but electrically this things scares me. lol
i know i guy who can wire it in a day for a couple hundred and some beer... so worse comes to worse ill do that. But I would rather do this whole thing myself.
Currently im sorting the wiring. Found out I don’t have a fpc or the smj (well I have half of it…) and I need a boost solenoid. So its off to the scrap yards…
Other than that I hope to start the mechanical part of the swap next weekend!
Pics coming

up
... yeah hes done it enough times now that he can do it in a day (as long as you have a complete harness)
heres the car it is going in.

got the suspension and front subframe this week.

finaly found a scrap yard near me that actaully has suby parts. they had 5 WRX's... i was like a kid in a candy store! lol
got the boost solenoid, maf, fpc, and all my power steering gear for a fraction of the price i thought i was going to have to pay! most parts come from 04 too!
going to spend this weekend preping and hopefuly pull the ol twofive next weekend.

update
got the whole lot from a guy i found in mtl. very good. and other odds and ends from scrap yards. compression tested the engine myself finally.. 120 psi in all 4 with no oil added!
anyways, sorry for the delay on the project update… need to quit my day job. Hah
This weekend jonny and I managed to strip the front end and remove the ej25.
There were some delays with the new engine going in… being… we had to bang out the dent in the oil pan for fear of it blocking the pickup. Np. However, after much wasted time trying to get the rtv off the pan (don’t use the rtv stripper from Canadian tire… it strips the paint too… yeah yeah read the instructions first)
So it was much was easier and a safer bet to order a new one. Spent most of the little time I had this week degreasing the engine bay and such. So we have to wait till this weekend to put in the 207.
Heres some pictures for your viewing pleasures
O and ps. You don’t need a fuel pump controller for this swap but you can use one if you want.

this into there right….. no problem

screw the 207… im going hover car.

Final extraction…. Doh left a ground wire on the gearbox

Much better… (what the hell is reflecting on my thumb?)

the most important part of a GC swap… well among other important parts.

I can feel the cold draught already.

f’n engine victory is ours!

pretty nasty down there. The rear separator plate on the 25 was gone. Leaking oil like a beezotch onto the steering column. 2$ part… and 2 sec to change now that the engine is out…. That’s the real reason I did this swap.. except I never planned on putting it back in. lol

hard to believe the one on the right is larger in displacement!

its in!
Engine installed!
Well, it was a tight fit but relatively easy install to get the engine and transmission in.
I spent most of Friday acquiring bits and pieces like a new oil pan, sti exaust (for now cause they are so cheap to pick up), and some v7 sti wheels.

V7 wheels (that’s hot)

RS steering rack in new crossmember (not as hot!)

New oil pan in (this will get hot)

My sailing skills came in handy here. I made like a quadruple purchase system to easy the tranny down as we moved the engine in. actually worked quite well. Quick notes for installing this engine in a gc: remove the O2 sensor on the headers.. it will get in the way. Make sure you protect your AC condenser… the engine will hit it!
Also… I thought the transmission was completely empty… better to double check… my garage reaks of gear oil. I hate the smell of gear oil!!

“Looks” like it wont fit easily.

****… she looks stuck…. Really tight fit going in on the gc… but done slowly and precisely and it will fit like a glove.

Snug (good thing I changed the plugs before… doesn’t look easy now that its in)
For some strange reason my transmission crossmember was a ***** to get the 6th bolt in… youd think that once 5 were in the last would line up… noooo took like an hour of fiddling to get the sucker in.
Feelings to date: things are going as planned… but I wish I had more time to work on it. Hooked up the shifter in the car today and popped it into 6th for the first time. Lol! Shifter is much higher than the RS but the throw is shorter. Very rally car style to be high up. Cant wait to get it done. Next step suspension and rear end. Gotta get to work on those brakes too…..
