You are paying for ECU flashing device. Probably the most convenient device out there. There are several other ways you can get tuned. Run one of the other EM. Pull out your ECU and send it to someone to get flashed, or... yeah... With that said, the AP just connects to your OBDII port. Don't have to rip out your ECU or rewire anything...

Besides, it seems like it is comparable to the other tuning methods out there.

Maybe not Tactrix/OpenECU, but yeah.

I didn't say that. Comparable in terms of price.

Yeah. I think the AP is the best way to go. I don't know too much about tactrix/OpenECU. It might be the cheapest way to go, but keep in mind that with the AP comes with the support side of things, not to mention that there are ProTuners that are certified to give you a certain level of quality.

Like I said, there are other ECU's and EM's out there. Probably in the same price range, but may not be as convenient or as supported.

^^ Yea I'm thinking about shooting for a V1 since 700 just seems sooooo much money for it. I rarely mod the car since I never have the money to do so so I'm more of the "set it and forget it" kinda guy. So for 700 bucks just for stage 1 when the chance of me going stage 2 is way off, just doesnt seem right.

I have also heard of this XPT thing...don't know too much about it except for it is a kind of ecuflash and well what I have heard from some is that the maps are cheap...something like 60 bucks?? Why not just go for one of those if I'm rarely going to add mods to the car and stage 1 should be fine for quite some time, why spend 400 for a map when i can spend 60?? Or am mixing things up??

Is XPT what they call the new OpenECU stuff?

You can... I think it is a matter of support beyond the product. I know that if something goes wrong, I can call Mike@GST or one of the other ProTuners and they can get me squared away.

true, the tech support is great...but is it for free, like do you get that because of the original purchase of a tune or what??

ok here is the game plan to get the AP V1

bov- sold ($100)

boost gauge- need to sell (what can I expect to get for this?)

oem front and rear sway bar - need to sell (again, what can I expect to get?)

oem rear endlinks - need to sell (yes again, what can I get for them?)

books - hopefully some money although books are a rip off.

V1 should cost me around 375-400 ish used so at the moment

I need around $300

If I could manage to sell all of this, would I cover it?

so 75 + 75 + 40 (lets be optimistic lol) = 190

so

100 + 190 = 290

400
-290

still 110 short

maybe books can make up the dif. or if not, then I gotta find something else to sell or find a quick labor job lol

"she will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine" - waynes world.

referencing to the AP V1

even if its 350, im still 60 short. That's if I can sell the sways and gauge and endlinks for the listed price we have above.

60 is a lot easier to get though. That would be no prob. So now it is up to me selling these items.

That is always fun!!

not.

Ok for awhile I was saving up to do a cobb ap and dp to go stage 2, but then I went to my first auto x event. I'm hooked

SO I have decided to start saving up and get some new tires hopefully some azenis and some 17X8 rims to put them on. After that I'll have to see how the car feels on the next event which is the 28th of June with the Lotus Club.

I have some pics of me driving my friend's evo which I'll post up later.
