Wink I almost got one of those.....

I almost got one of those, but the dealers were asking $2k markup over the 19k something $$ when they first came out. I offered a local dealer $19k and they didn't bite! Now you can get them new for $16k on specials. Doh!

A few weeks later I had my WRX... 1k worth of mods and you will be doing mid-low 13s reliably!
My WRX is mod free except for shoes and suspension, and I love it.

Just don't put any of that carbon fiber on yours when you get it! :-)

I wanted to drop a turboed h22 motor in it and such. As much as I like my wrx, i still have a soft spot for civic hatchbacks.
I understand, prelude motor huh? Good motor, to bad aftermarket wasn't very strong. Well compared to the B16 and B18's.

I think your civic is sweet. you might wanna get some rims though imo. I used to have a 2000 civic ex with a b18c swap in it, and it was pretty nice too. But the jump from that to my 04 wrx was definitely worth while. Good luck with that!
Thanks, rims were on my to do list. Yet with this idea of moving on to another car, wheels might not be bought. Cool, B18C was the LS Vtec motor right? B18C5 was Integra Type-R, damn it has been awhile lol

Yeah it was crazy, don't know if you remember. But when this car first came out, it was right before everyone else released theirs. SVT Focus, VW GTI, Neon, etc. So Honda set it around 19K then with dealer mark up early in the year. Took it up to over 20K, didn't sell at that price LOL. Then later in the year by sept when I got mine, lowered to 17K. Few months after that, 02's could be found at low's 14's. I should have waited

honestly i don't like it that much, but i don't hate it either. i sold one of those and i didn't like the fact that i had to do more work to drive(around turns). although i think the possiblilties of modifying that car are endless. one fact though-nothing can beat the quality/reliability of a honda! actually i like the styling i think the shifter placement is awesome but the rubber boot i didn't like

in all fairness i have a great deal of respect for someone who comes into another enthusiast club and gives props!
good luck on da wrx - - - hurry up and join the grip revolution!

Yeah, the boot being rubber is different when considering what most boots are made of. Thanks, your rides are very nice (been lurking in the rest of the gallery section). I would love to join the grip revolution, so far I have only driven FWD and RWD (V6, and V8 Mustang and Auto. Camaro). So I am looking forward to making the sales person reach for something to hold on too.

Just a few months then I can go to the dealer, only real problem is that even though this would be my first choice (WRX). My friends are not going to let me just settle on a WRX without checking out the 04 S2000, and 03 EVO. So I have to go and check those out, just went today to the Honda dealer to order some parts and saw they have a few S2000 at $29,000 and the rest at 32-33K (extra items like lip kits, rear wings, etc.) with a $2500 cash back. Now this car is least likely going to be bought, yet if I can work it well enough (all said and done at 30k) and the insurance isn't above $300 a month. Then I might get it, or I could save a ton of money and still go with the WRX and be more safe month to month. The EVO is just a choice cause it slightly interests me (and one of my closest friend loves it for some unusual reason), yet it is 5k more depending on dealer mark up. I also take into consideration when thinking about another car is aftermarket support, choices on interent support (forums, etc.) So on that alone, you guys have more (then again the EVO has only been here a short time and could/will make a strong following).

Though from what I have learned through my Civic, it is better to mod from 24K then pay up front 28K. Considering with the WRX I would be looking to upgrade I/H-up pipe/E- down pipe and maybe flash the ECU. Oh, and do you guys use turbo timers? Boost controllers on a mostly stock engine?

Those three cars a great cars to look at, all awesome.

Turbo Timers: Well some people use them some don't, Subaru designed their turbos to have a great cooling system for the turbo so they say you don't need a turbo timer. They say this in the service manual, and they admit that there use to be a cool down procedure, so I would just trust subaru's engineering.

Boost Controllers: Some people I've seen have problems with it some don't, most people will say it's best to have your boost controlled by the ecu with the reflash or whatever.

Just my thoughts.

Cool to know that the cooling system is great. I agree, having the ecu flashed. Yet it would seem so much easier to adjust it myself with in reason Will have to put more thought into it.

if the insurance is right, after having a 240sx and a wrx, i would get a s2k cause i love rwd. And the wrx doesnt feel anything like my 240sx did as in quality.
Cool, I will see if the number is close to something I can deal with for a while. Cause it is a wonderful car (even though I have never driven one), though I have only had the chance to check them out at the dealer. I have sat in the 02 WRX and 03 EVO, I liked the interior's. Quality seemed to be pretty good.

Anyway, there are LOTS of former Honda owners here (myself included, 99 Prelude), so don't let the lone sociopath deter you from the community in general. As for choosing cars, I've got an 04 WRX, and I really like it. You will end up worrying about your tranny from time to time though, I do. The S2k is a helluva thing, is that $29k before the $2500 cash back? And the 29k is sticker, right? I've been meaning to go drive one of those things.
Those marked at 29K don't come with the cash back They also have no extra options, which really doesn't bother me cause I will just get something else from the aftermarket. 33k is the sticker on the rest of them on the lot. Funny how dealers are different, this one that I am talking about has always been really easy to work with considering how they plainly show reductions and stuff. While the next closest dealer does not. The sticker price is never adjusted, you will never see a car on their lot with deals displayed. I had to use a newspaper to get my SI at the price I paid, other than that. They would have tried to still sell it to me at full price (would have bought from the other dealer, yet they only had white ones by that late in the year).

The b18c is the GSR engine.

"step aside and watch us go..." quote from a buddy of mine who owns 20 hondas. . . i'm trying to get him to buy an sti. . .

if u really think about it subarus can tend to be ugly to most people. technically speaking there are no "smooth lines" on this car. i'm not complaining because i have 2 of em... but the styling can use a little help.
