Not my favorite Mexican stereo installer ninja. Nooooooooo... not him! Must be someone else you're thinking of.

So - when this project car is running it's going to have a flat black left front fender from the previous owner (2.5 DOHC), the hood from a long-since-smashed RS (Jason T - don't know his screen name here) and the scoop / vents on the hood from Dsbaruuuuu. Oh yeah - those will be blue. Red, silver, blue, black. All ghetto, all the time.

My fiance thought the project died as well. I just got all lazy pants on it. Thankfully Dsbaruuuuu is a good task master and keeps me goin. When he's around we usually get a LOT of stuff done. The day 2.5DOHC was over the two of them went all psycho chop shop on the thing and stripped a LOT out in a very short time.

Tomorrow morning (Off from work - yay) gotta get up at a reasonable hour and start wrenchin. First thing I should do is take the pictures I promised.

I was hoping to really work on it during the week but I'm not really useful when I get home from work, and by the time Dsbaruuuuu gets here there's only an hour or so left of sunlight. Stupid nature. At least Friday and Saturday I can work on 'em!

Oh - 91 sleeper - will call ya tomorrow (I think you PM'd me your number). Looks like either tomorrow or Saturday - gotta talk with the missus and see when is a better time to drive out that way. I think Saturday though...

Going to hit it when I get home today. Hopefully I can get the damn subframes off of the 98 before you get there. Will call ya later on m'kay?

Today I will take some pictures after I move some of the crap out of the way. Right now it looks like a bad junkyard. Stinks like one too - that damn gear oil smell sure sticks around.
Hey Latka, so you sold one of your Minis and now you're in a Subaru huh?
Must be good to stretch them long legs...LOL!!
Now, as for the pics...you gottah post them as you go, afterall isn't picture taking another one of your hobbies?
I remember you took some nice pics at a Tech Session we had over at BME a while back!

I still have one Mini left. It's going to get restored once the subaru is running. Gotta have something fun to drive!

I took some pictures today but didn't post 'em... we got the WRX front subframe swapped into the L. It went really smooth until we noticed we bolted up the swing arm with the driveshaft *under* it instead of over it. Doh! Hopefully tomorrow we can get the rear swapped out. I gotta go pick up the exhaust from one person and then some wheels from another. Hopefully can get all that done while Dsbaruuuuu is playing stereo installer.

Up-u-date-u

Over the past few days we got a bunch 'o stuff done. Man that front crossmember was cake compared to the rear end. They probably weigh about the same but the rear end is a pain because it's so much longer. Finally got it in once we lifted it (with the jack) under the rear diff - got it to the point where we could get the bolts by the struts in, and once we got that it wasn't too bad.

So - picture time.

Here's how the '02 wagon looks now. If you check the first page you'll see it was a real car at one point.

EJ22 for sale! If no offers it's goin to the scrap dealer probably at the end of this week. It's got 100k miles on it and needs new CV joints but other than that has been gettin Dsbaruuuuu around since July of last year.

One of the 98 with the engine out. Soon it shall have realultimate power. Oh yes.

...and the obligitory "person in the empty engine bay" shot. That'd be me. I'm a grape ape.

Dsbaruuuuu gettin' his Japanese gov't mandated photo pose on.

Dsbaruuuuu finishing up the WRX rear end underneath the 98.

Somehow I don't think the WRX wagon is going to handle or stop as well...

Here's what the 98 "L" interior looks like.

...and about 1/2 an hour later

Finally the STi (top) and WRX Rear swaybars.

...and the WRX (top) and "L" swaybars. The STi one is just a wee bit thicker.

The only problem we've run into is that the STi swaybar seems about an inch and a half or two inches longer than the WRX so it doesn't want to bolt up. Any suggestions?

Today we're going to pull out the dash on the '98 and start making labels for the wires with our fancy label maker. No tape and marker here baby!

I think you might be able to bolt the STi bar outside the links instead of inside them. Looks good, we need to do the old school cruise soon.
