So after all this time, I’ve decided to put together a small build of my six speed swap. All in all this took me about a week to do and about 2 to 3 months of nabbing parts and planning the swap.
Before I get to the process here are some pictures of the parts that I had gathered.
WC LatheWerks Titanium Shifter and Lockout Ring

06 STI Rear subframe and Rear Differential Carrier

06 STI Spec C - 6 Speed

06 STI Axles, Drive Shaft and Rear Subframe

OEM Shifter, with Front Super Pro Bushing

Basically to start off during disassembly, I started by removing all the hubs and axles. I then removed all of the rear suspension driveline pieces and replaced those with the 06 STI ones. Once that was done I moved on to the front subframe. I left the transmission cradle in place and supported the motor up front on the header so I could remove the front forester subframe and spacers. I then proceeded to replace the front subframe with the 06 STI front subframe and WRX bolts to hold the subframe in place. Once that was all done I added in the 05 STI steering rack. After the replacement of all the subframes, I then removed the transmission cradle and removed the OEM 5 speed. Replaced the clutch and threw in the 6 speed with some finagling and some love it went in. It’s a pretty tight fit but worked out well. The pictures are out of order but I will have descriptions at all of the pictures to state what is going on.
