And I think this is the new 06 Impreza. Since I just talked to one of Subaru Canada's managers last week, who said a facelifted Impreza will arrive this year in Japan first, and then arrivet in North American this August.
All the facts fit together.

Well it could be a lot worse...
BTW I hope this is an artist's conception and not the FINAL final because hopefully the grille will be a separate piece like the '02-'03s so we can change it out

The Legacy headlights are just like that, with a slight round bulge. I drive a Legacy and I love the lights. The bulge helps make the lights less "flat" looking and more 3 dimensional.

But that's just my opinion. But honestly, it doesn't look too bad and people will still buy it in records number (Subaru sales have been reaching record highs) for its performance. After all, most people buy a Subaru for its performance.

The second (and current) Impreza platform was introduced in 2002. It's only 2005 now. The current platform is not that old. This will definately be a facelift, not a complete redesign.

Hehe jokes.
Just to reiterate.
Most car companies use a car platform for 5 to 6 years. During this period, they may give the car an exterior facelift ONCE. After this period, they develop a brand new platform and completely new design.
The current Impreza platform was introduced in summer 2001 as a 2002 model. (Most car companies start their model year in the summer/fall). In summer 2003, the 04 Impreza was given a facelift.
This summer (2005), the current Impreza plaform will turn 4 years old, which is still young. Now, according to the magazine article and my conversation with one of Subaru Canada's managers, Subaru will give the Impreza a SECOND facelift. This facelifted Impreza will be introduced this summer as a 2006 model. Two or three years later, when the Impreza platform turn 6/7 years old, Subaru will develop a new platform and a completely new design. So a completely redesigned Impreza will not arrive for another 2/3 years. This is an obvious fact, since a platform costs lots of money to develop! It is much more economical to keep a platform for as long as possible.
So to summarize: The Impreza will definately get a second facelift this summer!!
Please don't ask anymore repetitive questions. Thank you!
