Dirty REX!!
I was 12/15
I beat an old-beater CRX, Audi A4 1.8T, and my friend in is '86 Merc Sable
I am definitly going to get good tire on these rims (and summer tires on new rims
) for the next event...I was understeering like a *****!!

Stock
I'm all stock right now (beside intake silencer removal)...I'm planning on doing suspension upgrades next spring (along with the wheels and tires)...I'm building a house right now so I don't have any extra money for the REX
The only way I was able to get sideways (to try to overcome the understeer) was in the faster sweepers...

how did you go about removing the silencing? I was planning on doing this, but wasn't sure how it would effect the intake?
I would go with adjustable coil-overs custco makes some really nice ones, but if you are really looking to overcome that understeer tighten up your rearend. Bigger sway-bra tower strut should make a big difference. Good luck with the house. I am buying a cabin in NC so I know where you are coming from.

I removed the silencer by follow the directions on scoobymods.com
I decide to go with the (optional) velocity stack to clean up the appearence and avoid having to "hack" the silencer. I also left the air scoop on and added a 3" rubber hose (from HomDepot) to keep it from moving around.
I do plan on going to coilovers rather than increments with springs (on stock struts) then performance struts, etc...
There was an older guy at the rallycross in his 99 legacy GT and he was gettin SIDEWAYS pretty good! He finished 6th, I think!?
The guy that won was in a mid-90 impreza with good rally tires so he had the advantage over everyone else (I don't think anyone else was prepared for the constant rain)..

I wish I would have gotten a WRX

i hear ya man! last weekend we got it pretty good here in VA and when I went autoxing (just on some construction sites...the guys wanted to see what I could do) it was like driving in snow! I'll have to go to scoobymods and check out the silencer. Thanks and keep up the dirty good work!

Thanks, not many people say that
That thing has 15 years and 214,000 miles on it.
I hope to move those PIAA lights to my Outback, if and when that Escort ever dies. In years past I ran CIBIE 95 driving lights on many cars, these are very comparable - like driving a giant flashlight.
Those PIAAS have been on there for 150,000 miles and they have never given me any kind of problem with any part of the circuit.
FWIW here is my OB's page:
It Came From the Wabash
(Well, from Lafayette, Indiana, which is on the Wabash)
