So... finally back around to updating this. Hmmm... Let's see... Where to start?
Well... first of all, I got a new set of wheels and tires. I was able to pick up a set of Enkei RPF1's (17x8) from a fellow autocrosser. Since the set only came with 3 tires, I ended up taking advantage of the $60 rebate for the Dunlop Star Specs (235/40/17). Kind of an expensive investment, but it was well worth it. Hehe. Tons of grip. More so than the Falken RT-615's I have.
The tires in the front are Kumho MX (245/40/17). The tires in the back are the Star Specs. As you can sell... the Star Specs kind of run wide.
Haven't really driven on these wheels and tires yet. I was able to auto-x them for Round 12 and Slush Round 1, but that's it. Round 2, I wasn't feeling well, and Round 3 was in Marina, so I didn't go.
On Sunday, I had the opportunity to co-chair the event (Slush #4) in Oakland. A few days prior, Ben (the DSP National Champ Auto-x'er) was looking for a low horsepower car to drive. I jokingly said, that I have 37whp. Haha. Anyways, on Sunday, he gave it a spin and really liked it. I think he put down a really good time. We'll have to see when the results come out. That actually made my day, though. Glad that the car was set up well. I know it doesn't make a lot of power, so I have to make it up somewhere. Haha.
As for me, I had a chance to drive a 1989 Civic Si. I was really tempted to drive my car, but since the co-driver in the Civic was a national level driver, I decided to count my blessings and see what I can learn.
Actually sitting with both Ben and Heyward (Co-driver), I really gained a bit of insight on my driving. Definitely going to apply what I've learned. It is only 2 or 3 things, but even if I can apply even 1 of those things, I know I can give the WRX'es a run for their money in STX.
