I passed a Miata and a 240 and a white WRX wagon, but the wagon doesn't count because I think they got black flagged.

So... I guess it is a time for an update. December has been kind of busy for me. Mainly because of school. I had finals the second week of December. And when I was finally done with that, I was finally able to go back home to the bay. Over the course of the next few weeks, I had a bunch of little projects.

First, I did an oil change. Picked up a filter at SpeedElement and oil from Lubrify.com. Did that and yeah. No big deal.

Next, I replaced the rear brake components. I was running some old '05 WRX rear pads and rotors. Not sure where they came from or how old they were. I had plans to do a track day and I figured it'd be good to get some solid parts in there. I picked up some Centric slotted rotors and Porterfield R4S pads from GST. With the help of a high school buddy, we got those on with out much trouble. Bled the brakes and flushed out the old and put in new SuperBlue fluid and that was that.

A few days later, I had to replace one of my broken front wheel studs. I actually broke it before Thanksgiving, but never replaced it. I impacted the lug on, which is a big no-no, but it was dark and late, and yeah... Oops. You can safely race on 4 lugs, but why risk it. With the help of Karlton (xtremeyolks) and his BFH (Big F***ing Hammer), we were able to get the wheel studs out and done in an hour and a half. Not too bad at all.

This past Friday was the Blacktrax Performance Track Day. Aaron (international b) and a few other I-Clubbers went up. It was a great event. I left the bay Thursday night. Rolled into my place in Davis at about 9:30. I got my RT-615 tires on the car by 11. Took it for a test spin and made sure eveything was okay and was in bed by 11:45/midnight. The next morning, I met up with 2 buddies at Starbucks at 5:30 in the morning, got a drink, and was on our way by 5:45. We kept a pretty good pace and rolled into Willows for gas at about 6:45 and at the gate oF Thunderhill by 7.

None of us really set up anything. Track was still wet and there was a lot of fog. We just pulled our junk out of the cars and figured it out from there. The drivers meeting went from 8-9 and covered all types of protocols and stuff. The first group (advanced) headed out at 9, and the other groups following 20 minutes each after.

By the time the beginner group got onto the track (9:40), the course was still wet and with lots of dirt all over. Well... more like mud. The first session was an all-course yellow. What was cool was I was leading it. I just happened to be gridded up first and I kept the pace between 40-60mph. Not too bad. I wasn't going to fast and even still, I heard that some people spun out.

Most of the morning was great otherwise. We got two more sessions in before lunch. It was still wet on course, but no biggie. There is a reason we have AWD.

To be continued...

Despite having AWD... I did spin out after 6. I think it was a combination of doing two things. I went in hot and I lifted. I didn't really do a true spin, but did lose control. The good news is no one was near me. I just pulled off and pulled out. I came in to the pits and discussed the black flag and made sure the car was okay and back out I went.

After lunch, I got4 more sessions. The course really started to dry off. By the last session, I think I was putting down some pretty good laps. The course was dry. My tires were warm. There were less people on course. Good times!

Want to say thanks to all the peeps who made the track day happen (blacktraxgirl and her crew), and to all you guys that came out and hung/ran with us. Can't forget Erik and Edwin riding along with me and giving me tips!

For the most part. It is a bumpy ride. The suspension is somewhat aggressive for the car. That's about it though.
