Another 04 blacked out headlamps

For those who've been nagging about getting rid of the orange lenses, enjoy!

Note: Don't mind the red splat.. it was only an Evo I killed...

I used Duplicolor Semi-Gloss Black Engine Enamel, for those who wanted to know. Flat black just wasn't gonna do it for me. Thanks!

There's two pieces when you take the lamp apart. One is the reflector and the other sits in front of it. I painted the piece in front and left the reflector alone.

What year Legacy? My friend has an '05 LGT and we took out that orange reflector on his lamps. There's a picture of what it looks like with Yellow bulbs.

I didn't sand any of it. I just sprayed a few coats and after it was dry to the touch, I put it back together. Then threw them back in the oven for about 10 minutes to get the sealant all gooey again. The paint was engine enamel, so it had to be baked(or heated to a fairly high temp) for it to actually stick well. I also sealed it with extra silicone just to be safe from moisture.

Traffic nice job. If I may, Do sand off the reflactive coating prior to sanding. Just use an 800+ grit wet sand paper. Prior to spraying your color coat use some dupicolor adhesion primoter. This should be used anytime you paint plastics. Just spray it on wait about 10 to 15 sec and apply a LIGHT coat of color, wait and follow with a wet coat, wait 3 to 10min, depending on Humidity asnd wet coat once more. I too chose the duplicolor Highheat engine enamel. I comes in a copper colored can. I chose this paint because of it's durability. Think green house. I'm pretty sure it gets really hot in there when your car sits in the sun for a while.
