2000 Impreza Wagon Sleeper In Progress
So I just got a 2000 Impreza Wagon, and I love it. Mainly I have just done interior and sound upgrades, put some new rims on, and put my ps2 in there with an LCD screen. I am doing a tint next, then an alarm. After that I want to do an intake and exhaust. I need to know what kind of exhaust to get, which would be best? and whether or not I should get the 2.5 hood and paint it then just do a regular intake with that OR ( I am pretty handy) make my own cold air intake where the stock one goes. I would like some direction on this as I am new to working on cars. Which one would get me more horsepower and better performance? Thanks all help is appreciated..... Also I will have some pictures as soon as I get my bluetooth card for my computer, I have to use my cell phone, my digital camera died...this is my subaru before I got it.... just wait to see it after I get some new pictures!!!!

Ah...after reading your last sentence everything makes sense!
I was like "I don't see no rims"
Anyways, I say go with one of them big hood scoops that they use on drag racing cars. Then take a big plastic tub, cut it in half attach it to the bootom of the scoop, cut a air intake hole, route some clothes dryer exhaust hose to your regular air intake box.
That would be mad tight!!!
...or not

whaz up- I've got a 98 impreza wagon and have done intake/header/cat-back... I'm pretty happy with the results, but I'd suggest getting the cat section replaced also. Unless you want to pay >300 for a random tech or stromung high-flow cat pipe, I'd go with a custom fabbed header-back exhaust. Pick out a straight-thru muffler you like and add a resonator if you'd like to soften the sound. As for the intake, that's the first thing I did. I just got a simple, non cold-air cone filter intake (GPmoto), and it seemed to give me a decent kick and a more sporty sound. [we may see the intake skeptics show up, but if you want one, go ahead- many people have noticed gains from intakes on the 2.2 N/A].
And as for the hood- only if you can find one the right color at the right price. Otherwise, I'd put that money into an RS front bumper conversion, which would look sick (IMO) with no scoop- much more unique. Wait, now that I think of it, I've never seen that- go for it.
RS sideskirts and rear spats will also fit if you weren't aware.

I wouldnt mind going to junkyards to get certain items, such as I was thinking of doing an interior swap, I hate the tan that is in it, but I dont know if its worthwhile, time and money wise..... but as for the exterior I found a place that will sell the RS hood for around 250, seems decent enough to me, its primered and ready to paint, I know people with the equipment to get it done for cheap, so the painting is not the issue, and well, for time, I go to school still, and I have a part time job so I have enough to work on it, as well as a decent amount of money.... so.... but the whole reason for the hood was for the special intake, I dont know what to call it, the panel intake I guess? it just seems like it would get better airflow... I dont know a whole lot about cars so, I am kind of in the wind with this one.....

I would go with a RS hood and maybe a RS front bumper cover seen it done. Borla makes a catback that would work and I am sure Stromung makes something also. Maybe you might want to upgrade the brake lines, fluid and pads then start on suspension those are weak areas on the car Whiteline makes great suspension parts that will work on your. And dependiong on where you are located you could always save your money and have LIC motorsports swap a WRX powertrain into your car...If you want to get opinions on parts just read through the reviews section..

You want to hook up an intake to the hoodscoop? How do you plan to keep water out? I've seen some DIY intakes that are along the lines of what you are considering, but nothing that seemed to be functional and effective. I'd be interested to see what you could come up with... They also make a smaller scoop that fits over the passenger side vent, right above where a cone filter intake would go- but again, you have the water problem.
If the hood was just for the intake, and that idea falls through- I wouldn't bother with the hood- do the bumper conv., sideskirts, and maybe a front lip and rear spats if you've got some extra $$$ to spend. Again, I think that would look super slick with no scoop. I'll try to find the DIY intake I've seen on this forum...

So I was thinking, if I dont turbo the car, and strictly stay N/A, for awhile, I get headers and a new exhaust and get a Perfect Power 6 what should I expect for horsepower if I get it tuned? is it possible to get over 200 in an N/A 2.2? Or am I completely wishing for this?
