WTB: Installation help $120

I have a full TBE waiting to be installed. I have an Cobb Heatshield, Cobb UP, Helix DP, and a Skunk2 CBE. I know the CBE is an easy install, but I really need help with the UP and DP installation. I want experienced help with this installation and am willing to pay $120 OBO. I don't want offers from professional motorsport shops

Why don't you want help from local shops?

I hear Adam@LIC can do an uppipe fairly quickly. Drop them a PM and see what they do for you.

If you are able to come up here, I would be more than glad to help as I have done these installs multiple times. If you would like, PM me and I can give you all my contact info.

It runs only $150 for uppipe at most local suby shops. May be another $150 for downpipe and catback. You could probably do dp and catback without too much problem. As for uppipe, if you think you can't do it yourself - have a shop do it.
I live in Hercules, if you like I could drop by and give you some mental instruction for free. Rather not do the actuall install becuase it's a little too physical PIA. For your info, I did vf30, pink injectors, tmic, dp, uppipe, catback all by myself about 2 weeks ago. It was PIA, but I took my time each day after work. When are you planning to do the install? I'm free this fri and sat. Like I say, mental instruction and reassurance only. hehe

I'm looking to avoid local shops, because mainly they charge hourly and hourly charge = LOTS OF MONEY. And I've already called a few shops for quotes, and I'm looking to spend nearly $300-$400. I want to avoid spending $300+ on installation fees. I just want some shade tree mechanic to help me install a few things, that'll do it for a cheap price. I don't have a lot of money to spend on installation. My uncle's shop is already charging me $325 for an estimated 6.5 hours to install. And that's already "discounted" and I don't want to argue with him that it takes less than that with a lift.

Well I don't count for making an offer based on your post (because we are a shop) but I would be upset if we charged you more than $240 for that work.

word to the wise......some times it's better to pay a little more now rather than a whole lot more later on to redo and correct shoddy installs. that's especially true w/electrical work like alarm and stereo installs and complicated or labor intensive jobs like up-pipes.

downpipe and cbe are pretty easy. i'd say you'd be okay getting a joe schmoe to do those. but i'd really suggest getting a shop or an experienced DIY'er for the up-pipe or you'll risk getting leaks, broken studs, or worse.

again, better to pay now than (more) later

Doing a full TBE is cake. I just installed mine last week without any help and it only took an hour with some rhino ramps and a hydro jack. Just make sure you have new gaskets (yes you can re-use them).

The UP is a bit more of a pain but still isn't *too* hard. If anything it might be the piece worth paying for the install.

That was my logic. I found someone who sounds like a credible source with experience. But yeah, I think it's a lot better to get someone with experience to install something as hard as an UP so I don't have to worry about major problems in the future.

Lucky for you, at least your car has a catless UP.

Thanks for the offers!

No need to be catty, just tryin to help out. Learning the ins and outs of your car is never bad and the exhaust is a really easy way to do it.

Good luck, anyhow.

Oh sorry, I really didn't mean to be catty. I wasn't trying to be arrogant. I was just pointing out that you guys (with 06+ WRX's) are catless, and don't have to worry about 3 cats. Sorry that came out really wrong.
