The 8cm is a 3" inlet.

I never said it was a bad turbo, just that competitor models generally make a little but more.
oh word?

so comparing an older cheaper turbo to a newer more expensive turbo is "competitor" comparo?

Lets compare a 2003 WRX to a 2006 STi.....basically competitive cars right?

It just urks me when people write them off, and some say they are bad turbos based on like 1 or 2 threads where people had bad luck with them (I saw the threads on iwsti that everyone refers to).

Meanwhile I had great experience with them, and so have quite a few cars I've tuned for friends and others.

Bottom line: you can get them WAY cheaper than the fancy billet wheeled ball bearing chra new blouches and they'll put a giant smile on your face in a street car.

Of course if you wanna spend $1500-2000 and generalize all 20g's then be my guest. In which case your statement would probably hold some water.

/rant

OP - if you only like to matt it on the highway and aren't afraid of a little lag, don't fear the larger turbos (i'm talkin larger than 20g )
If you want an awesome tradeoff, get the 20.
If you want an awesome tradeoff for a great deal, get a used fp 20 (or of course any of the other popular ones).
Chances are you're not going to push any of them to the very limit anyways, so the 20hp difference or whatever it is probably won't be as good a $$/hp ratio as you want.

And it irks me when people respond to a quote without even reading what was said in it.

This was all wasted breath. I wasn't talking about new 'oversized' 20Gs like the XT. Most competitor 18 and 20Gs have ALWAYS made more power than FP's versions. Their 18G was actually more comparable to a Big or EVO3 16G.

yeah, at first i preferred to go any used 20g but since my distributor carries synergy turbos, im hoping i can get a new one for a good price. Right now, i just want something to keep me entertained and keep up with the power of my 240sx so i won't neglect the subaru haha (which i have been doing =[

Post proof.
And I realize that most knowledge is a waste of breath with you, since you like to regurgitate others' random posts as facts and throw out vague misconceptions trying to be a smart guy on the interwebz, but go ahead and prove me wrong. I'm speaking from my experience, not what the interwebz tells me.

No personal exp with those, but I've heard good things, and saw some very high hp dyno plots. They def seem to be on the laggy side from what I've seen though.

I see, so how many different 20Gs have you run?

All it takes is a call to your favorite tuner. Ask them what they think. I feel like you half expected me to start post incomparable dyno charts.

I am my favorite tuner.
I have tuned my fair share of 20g setups.
I expected you to not have any proof, and you don't.
Thanks for playing.

You should add that you sold a car to someone on the other side of the country because it was that boss. I think that would add to your credentials.

i have a 20g 8cm 2.4 inlet. love it. makes 330whp on 91 which is what most vf turbos make on e85. i plan on doing a very conservative e85 tune but these turbos can make a 400ish whp on the corn. so op go for it you will love it
