Have you considered an SVX? Yes, it's AT only, but 230 HP and tops out at 145mph... Lots of oomph and solidly engineered, with quite a few bells and whistles that you wouldn't be getting on a similarly priced Impreza or Legacy. We got our '94 for $4k out the door this past May. It rocks...

SVX's are awesome, but AT, and over 3500lbs

It's true. I won't get sideways for safety reasons (public roads), but you'll definitely feel the tail wag.

Of course, I'd have to come pick you up from out there, then drive you around the redwoods. Makes for an expensive test ride. Bring your camera, since you'll want to have some pictures, and maybe some depends (to wear), so you don't mess up the seats.

I dont think I would mess up the seats until we were actually in the air flying off of a cliff... And im not sure I'd even mess them up then either...

I might have to take you up on that offer. Right now though my spare time equals 70% rebuilding the 78 scoob wagon and 30% looking for a car...
