I've got an optima red top in the car right now. Think it's failing.

I'd like to replace it with one... or a yellow... or something similar. Need one on the cheap. Things are not kosher right now. LOL!

Ray,

Do you really need an Optima? Why not go get a Duralast Gold from Autozone?

Duralast Gold/Battery 35-DLG - Read 7 Reviews on Duralast Gold #35-DLG

"640 Cold Cranking Amps (800 Cranking Amps)"

"5 year warranty"

I would think that would be sufficient for you to run whatever the Optima battery would run and be a cheaper option (unless you're looking to try and get a battery for sub $100).

I have an Interstate battery I took out of my wrx (that was relatively new) before putting in the light battery. Just had it on the trickle charger today and looks good.

The optimas definitely arent as good as they used to be. And thats coming from a guy who works at interstate. They are all mostly just as good as the next one. Until you get into the AGM batteries.

My redtop is nearly 6 years old and is just starting to show signs of going out. So I think it is sort of hit or miss with them. I only went with it because I got tired of all the others leaking. Interstate black in the other car. I'll probably do AGM this time, but I didn't have a problem with the Optima.

Mine is like 12 years old. The old ones were legit. Interstate bought them and they're not as good.

Mainly I'm looking for a decent gel battery. I don't like liquid

I ended up just buying one at Sears. I stalled out leaving a work function on Friday night. Ended up having to sleep in my car Friday night. Froze my *** off. Got home the next morning and my wife goes.... dude.... go buy a battery. So I did. And I also put a camping sleeping bag pad and a down camping comforter in the back of my car just in case. LOL!

So yeah... got a battery in there. Though this would have been rad... and saved me $150 I didn't really have.

I appreciate the reach out dude. If we're ever in the same place at the same time I'll get you a beer.
