ive run 225/45/17 before and there was some room to spare. I'm pretty sure 235/40/17 would work too, and 245 may also, but it might be more worth your money to buy a 235 that runs wider (such as falken azeni or hankook rs2). Offset is typical Subaru offset of 48mm, so rubbing won't occur with a 225 or 235, even if the car is lowered.
