I can't see you hitting 10's with either the green or the GT52 without some serious chassis lightening or similar.

The green is a great everyday driver on the 2.5L and makes for a mid 11's car on race gas.

Why don't you just call one of the shops? They'll be able to provide you with more indepth technical information. Obviously, each set-up will have pro's and con's. Weigh your option and then make a decision.

First off, call AMS (the 9 second EVO guys, 1000whp evo guys, just google them) - they are trying to run 10s on an FP Green in a full weight STI. Sounds right up your alley. You have a phone, right?

You want to go for it? Knock yourself out. PM me if you want to discuss how I feel you should just buy a Viper or z06 instead of trying to run 10s in your STI. I can share my experiences with you. Or PM MARKSTI, he's one of the only guys on this board with a seriously built STI who has tracked it.

OT:
1. Call GST and ask them.
2. No one, I repeat NO ONE in the bay area on this forum who posts regularly has run 10s in their subaru. Only a few have even touched 11s. So who are they to give you advice and why would you listen to them? And there are people with 600whp who can't 10's. There are people who spent $20k, $30k on their car and can't run 11's. What's the moral of this story? You will not run 10s, because horsepower is cheap - bolt on an fp red on c16 and you'll have almost 600 horsepower, but the rest of it is what's hard. There are reasons there are not many 10 second subarus out there - and not enough horsepower is NOT, I repeat yet again, NOT among those reasons. Call GST and consult with them.
3. Have you thought about the amounts of supporting mods when you get into uber-hp territory? There are a lot of STIs with gt35r, reds - VERY few gt40r, gt42r cars out there. Yes, one reason is because of scarcity of kits. But cost isn't a factor - UR's 40r kit isn't that much more than the 35r kit. Lag isn't all that bad either on a 2.5. The thing is, the supporting EMS and fuel mods (I'm sure GST can consult you on this is you phone them) just get crazy pretty quickly. On top of that, mods and restrictions that make little/no difference at stock turbo power levels start to matter at the higher hp levels.
4. GT52: call GST to consult them, I'm pretty sure this is a 30r chra and compressor in a td06 housing. Seems good.

On topic: Seriously, the 8cm green is probably the best turbo for the 2.5 out there. People get disappointed with their turbos a lot: some with dreams of big power have never driven or felt the lag of larger turbos and end up regretting going that big, and some people looking for streetability have been disappointed with horsepower results from smaller turbos. FP Green 8cm is the way to go.

*correction* FP Green 8cm w/ EWG and meth is the way to go

Oh im going to run 10's on this thing lol. I ran an 11.7 with the stock top mount, internal Wastegate and the tumblers. Full weight..even the spare tire

I just slapped on (today) an EWG, Tumber deletes and our AMS Top mount.

link to my 11.7 run

My goal is a LOW 11 or even a 10 on a top mount and the green, wish me luck

BUMP For a great turbo and an even better group of guys at GST

Eric

Yeah I have been on the fence looking at FP Green for a min. I think its time to go for an upgrade but I am picky and still doing my research, which aint bad at all. I know the is not an insane turbo, as in not too large, but everyone I've talked to has nothing but good things to say about it.

Personally, I am looking for a bit more than what the stocker has to offer. I don't track much at all so I think something like this will suit me well. Then again I do like the larger turbos, though a bit much for daily driving and a few track days here and there, its something I am still researching.

BTW what is the difference between Green and Red? I have been reading posts and past archived topics but really nothing stands out.

The red uses a 65lb wheel verses the 49lb on the green, the green is a much better day to day turbo with faster response and spool up. The Red will yield much better high end results on race gas and should be capable of over 450whp on our dyno.
