It is a clean car with a lot of solid parts, but you are better off parting it out if you need $17k out of it.

you out of all people should know that "custom" does not translate into "value". Great, you dropped $7,000 on a paint job. Why should that effect its value? It didn't come with out from the factory?
It is a clean car with a lot of solid parts, but you are better off parting it out if you need $17k out of it.
And don't take this the wrong way, but an "adult" would have his funding squared away without the need for a fire sale of personal belongings. What is going to happen if the house needs renovations or unplanned maintenance?
