P.S - SC charges $5,000 for a wrx shortblock (i've asked... i think they meant with pistons rods etc.) DAMN EXPENSIVE... called gruppe-s and they only charge $500 for the bare shortblock .. WTF ?? at least if ur gonna rip me off, do it at a reasonable price..

when people say "shortblock" they mean assembled shortblock, like the Ebay link thats posted above, the STI assembled blocks sell for around $1500, yes its less than a 2.0 WRX shortblock, why is a bit of a mystery but all you need to know is its foolish to pay for a new WRX 2.0 SB when the STI ones are cheaper so just get the STI one.

Now a 'bare" shortblock means just the crankcase with nothing in it, no rods/pistons/crank/bearings. just the empty aluminum block. Yes Gruppe-s has some empty blocks there but you cant do anything with this.

About stevens creek, everyone here should know by now. In case youve been under a rock though, heres their 30+ page love letter

oh yeah, you do know the dealership plans to charge you for the time it took them to diagnose your car, wether you plan to get it repaired there or not, right?

if this was my car, I would get and answer to the warranty question now and based on that either have another dealership work on it or tow it to shop that will not screw you. stevens creek will screw you when it is all said and done.

haha, oh damn

well you might still get away with just the SB if the timing belt stayed on and the valves didnt interfere with the loose piston, but damn I gotta see this!

Anyhow, my motor is still in the car, Im pulling it out in a couple weeks for a new motor so theres nothing at all wrong with it other that Im stupid and pull out perfectly good motors all the time(number 4 now, yay!) Freddy is getting the stock STI heads to put on his built block so my block will be up for grabs, freddys stock WRX heads will be up for grabs to incase yours are fuct, I would still get your car out of there and up to gruppe-s, dealerships going to charge you about 2-3X more and they will only want to use a new 2.0 block that they sell you($$$) and also they rarely do motorswaps like this at the dealership whereas Gruppe-s does them all the time so your going better faster service there on top of saving a grip. Let me know about that block
