As a Gary Fisher owner I'll throw in my two cents.

Genesis frames are simply amazing. The top tube is a little longer than usual and the chainstays are a bit shorter. The result is that the weight distribution is moved toward the back wheel more, which gives you better traction for climbing, makes steering feel better, and positions yourself more naturally for descent.

The second you get on this bike you'll know it is different.

^^^^Yeah, listen to him

Fishers really are different, and feel different. The bike thats replacing this is another Genesis frame.

don't they come out of the same hodaka oem factory as giant and trek though? not saying it's a bad thing (actually, it's a really good thing if it's from hodaka)...but i don't get what's so special about the genesis frame if trek, giant, and others use the same frame.

sorry...not trying to troll...honest question.

stevenkhau, no. They may be made in the same plant (which I know nothing about), but they aren't the same frames.

Comparing lengths from a trek 18" to a fisher 17.5":

Effective Top Tube: 22.0 vs. 23.9
Chainstay length: 430mm vs. 413mm

So the GF is 1.9 inches longer up top and 2/3 of an inch shorter on the chainstay.

Ride them both and you'll feel the difference.

iirc trek owns fisher, but they kind of let them do their own thing. they don't deal in as high of volume as trek. i have an old school y frame joshua and i love it. +1 for genesis
