does rev matching while you downshift wear out your clutch quicker? I would think it wouldnt cause there would be less pressure on the motor/transmission

OP -- Please interpret this tangent as a free bump.

About clutches and rev matching: it seems to me like rev matching would make the actual clutch do less work since the act of rev matching would bring the input and output speeds(rates) closer together, leaving less work for the clutch to do. The clutch PILOT BEARING however would have to take the beating. Is this correct?

Long answer: most people suck at this, and cause more clutch wear than if they would have just not bothered. They are also screwing up their synchros at the same time. In a perfect world, yes, the point of rev-matching is to have the clutch and flywheel/pressure plate surface meet at the same speed at engagement, and there would be far less wear. I have met ONE person in my life who could shift up/down through the gears in such a way that you could not FEEL it happening. Many claim to have this skill, few deliver.

In theory, you are right.

A lot, lol. You would do a 5x114 hub conversion, brakes, etc.

Not necessarily. You could find a 3.90 R160 and keep the rest of your drivetrain.

You would not need a hub converson since 06+ wrx are 114.3 hubs,

but what you will need is

STi axles and if you want the rear diff they you would need the dccd controller full wiring harness and a STi ecu.

if no STi rear diff then u still need the STi front axels but you must get the final gearing correct by getting a different wrx diff.

and obviously in both scenarios you will need a STi clutch, flywheel and shifter/linkage

Would I need the STi ecu to? I've seen DCCD kits for 6spd swapped wrx's.

I wish you were interested in a 5spd swap....would be soooo much easier for me!

you can swap the 6speed and there is a aftermarket dccd controler.

ya if it was a T56 i would be all over swaping.

can do payments to but they would be non refundable.
