Splitter differences:
An FYI: The difference between common WRX and STi Hood Scoop splitters. They are NOT all the same. (in USDM model years):
02-03 OEM WRX Hood Scoop Splitter
02-03 OEM JDM STi V7 Hood Scoop Splitter
04-05 OEM WRX Hood Scoop Splitter
04-05 OEM STi Hood Scoop Splitter
As you advertised to me, you said that you had the 02-03 JDM STi Scoop Splitter. When you sent me photos, I could see clearly that it is the OEM WRX Scoop Splitter, NOT V7 STi.

Thanks for the info bro
What I dont understand is why my oem scoop bolts dont reach splitter holes. The top part of the "mouth" touches the undersiee of the top of the oem scoop. Could there be different aft rmarket styles? For example I had a v2 replica fg lip that needed a lot of sanding etc. I just picked up what looks like genuine. It has lined up mounting brafkets and no sandin required. Or its very possible im just a tard.
Anyone else that can chime in maybe? I dont have a turbo yet and dont knkw as much about splitters as matt.

Did you try it when it was installed on the hood? the hood's thicker than you think... and when it's sandwiched together, it should fit the oem wrx scoop.

The text I received from the OP of this thread at 7:06 this morning.
This is the text message that was sent to me by the OP at 7:06 this morning a week after I told him that I was not interested in buying his USDM WRX hood scoop splitter:
"So it is for the taller sti scoop and works for the sti bugeye scoops. Selling it today. Thought ud wanna know you were wrong and that it in fact is sti"
Well, if this splitter was of the shape-shifting variety I could be wrong! But to text someone on their personal cell number at 7am specifically to tell them that they were wrong (still don't think I am) is a little out of hand. Let's leave it at this: Please never contact me again on my personal phone - EVER. I think I can speak for a couple of people here: Please do not beg me to buy your damaged/unsafe bulging tires, no I do not want your unusually large collection of junk/scrap tires, no nothing other than what I initially responded to interests me.
I apologize for not having done the proper research before I responded to you. I genuinely thought that maybe you had the genuine JDM STi hood scoop splitter for my bugeye car. You did not. I hope that guy you may have sold it to knows that. I'm sure it fits - just not the way the JDM STi one does. I don't really know what you have but it's not what you were advertising it as. Thanks for the follow up.
The pic he sent me saying it WAS but it WAS the right one!! (on cell phone, would not email it)
