Car Info: 2002 Subaru WRX Sedan
Hey guys (and gals if there are any). I just picked up my 2002 WRX last week and I've been getting familiar with the car (and owners manual... this is my first Subaru). So far I LOVE driving it, the shifter isn't quite as slick as I'm used to but that's my only complaint so far.
I'll try and get some pictures up this weekend, the car is mechanically stock (aside from some 18" rims that will be replaced shortly). The front and rear windows were tinted before I purchased the car, I think I like the look but we'll see about the local law enforcement.
I promised my wife that I wouldn't modify the car for the first year of ownership. She's agreed to let me get a roof rack (for our bikes), mud flaps, a skid plate, and a differential cover. Aside from that the only things I'll be changing are belts/oil/plugs.
So far I'm really enjoying the community of Subaru owners around San Jose, CA. The second day I had the car I had two other WRX owners wave in traffic just to say "hi". The Honda/Acura community (my primary background) could use with this kind of camaraderie, most of the time you just get guys who are total ****** cutting people off in traffic and "racing" you on the freeway. It's refreshing to not deal with that. It's also nice to know that if the childish side of my brain gets a hold of me that I could stomp most of them at any speed.
Thanks for the help already, I've been lurking the forums here and at nasioc for the last two weeks so I knew a little more about what I'd be getting myself into.

Welcome! Glad to hear you are enjoying the new ride!
Always glad to see more local subies!!
Everyone around here is really nice and we always try to wave when we see each other. But I totally get what you are saying about the Hondas/Acuras, lol they tend to get annoying...lol
Hope to see some pics soon!
Enjoy your stay at i-club!

Does anyone local put together any cruises? I ran with the guys from watercooledmilitia for a while (yes... I was driving a Honda with a bunch of VW guys, long story). My favorite run is hwy 9 to Skyline (hwy 35), Skyline to Woodside (hwy 84), Woodside to hwy 1. We'd stop at Greyhound rock (nice parking lot, good views). Some folks would head into Santa Cruz from there, others would head home over the hill (hwy 17). If anyone's interested I'd be game to go next weekend, I work 3-Midnight on Saturdays so it'd have to be in the morning. So long as nobody drives like an idiot everything should be cool. I went out 3 times with the wcm guys and we never had anyone get stopped.

Right on, I'll set up some time to make it out to the meet. Are you guys getting together at the Coleman/Taylor Wingstop still? I'm in downtown but work in Cupertino so I'd just extend my drive home.
