NEW Sti Owner

hey everyone! i just picked up my 07 brand new Sti color (black) yesterday. i owned a honda s2000 2001 previously. i love the the all wheel drive feel especially the TORQUE! i also got a question about BOV's...im a so please don't flameup haha...anyway i was just wondering..is there any aftermarket BOV's that won't hurt the engine? i heard that if you run aftermarket bov's on a stock motor will hurt the engine...because it doesn't recirculate the air..so is there any BOV's that i can run safely on my car that is aftermarket? thanks for all the help!

Bovs no but bpv yes

and it is kinda of becaue it doesnt recirculate the air, it is cause our MAF sensors are before the bov and it measure the amount of air before it i let out of the system. it makes u run rich. it can not be tuned out or fixed. hopefully that helped!

just save your money for a downpipe or even a TBE(turbo-back exhaust) bro. you'll be able to hear the spool and the stock BPV while getting a lot more power out of the car. the titek DP(downpipe) can be had for about $225 at speed element while bov's will run around $150. the gains are much, much, MUCH more efficient with the DP. only time you need a bov is if you are beginning to run monster power.

we wont think lesser of you if you dont have that "psssh" sound

hope this helped. let us know if you have another other questions too.

Your spool will be better, gains not too significant. I highly recommmend getting yourself an Accessport and a protune combined with the DP/TBE. You'll begin to read about the ECU fuel mapping glitch. Stock the ECU has a habit of running the motor lean at low RPM high boost. The problem gets worse if you add exhaust components which decrease your spool rpm. It might be alright to run without a tune for a short while. If you run too long, boom goes the motor. I've had 8 motors in my 05 WRX. I'll tell you, it gets very expensive.
I suggest, if you plan to mod, keep it very minor until the warranty expires. Then have at it. An SPT intake make a nice addition for the sound you are looking for. You can really hear the turbo, BPV. It helps with spool a bit too. Best part, maitains warranty.

so now i know BOV's are bad for our cars..its worthless..how about this one? this one seems like it'll recirculate the air back to the intake..has the extra hole for the vacumn.. http://www.iaperformance.com/product...roducts_id=426
has anyone experienced this specific part?

do the snorkus delete and you will here your bpv and turbo a lot better. Its under the front passenger side and you will have to go up into the engine through the wheel well. Its a quick, maybe 15-30 minutes, way to get some good sound.

Honestly a recirculating BOV or BPV will not change the sound much and unless your running up near 19psi or more you dont need one. If you want to run one, go for it.

get the SPT intake, take out the snorkus, and you should be fine with the sound you want.
oh, and once you start modding, its hard to stop. ask anyone on here.
