hey guys - I've been visiting the forum for the past year and finally decided to sign up. Thank you for all of the great information!
quick blurb b/c I am a huge subbie fan.
I have a 2012 psw WRX hatch that I waited forever for! Long story short, I reserved it in October 2011 and it finally arrived in January 2012. I've always wanted a WRX and I finally pulled the trigger - and do I love this thing.
In December the wife got me the stage2 kit (cobb ap, dp, exhaust, panel filter, heat shield) from Perrin but the exhaust was on back order. So I did stage1 (cobb) and drove around for a bit, improvement was noticeable... then my bro and I put on the DP, and flashed it with Perrin's stage2 map - what a huge increase. The pull was phenomenal and freaked me out. I was coming around the corner and gave it 2/3 throttle and nearly went into the island. (n00b move I know). A few weeks ago the matte black exhaust arrived, and we installed it that night. What an awesome sound! I can really hear the turbo spooling.
The only complaint was I started to have a lot of vibration, which caused my rear view mirror to make all sorts of noise. I finally took the mirror a part down to the mount, to realize after three attempts that the mount was what was rattling. So I used thin back electrical tape around the inside of the mount to make it a snug fit, pushed it back on to the windshield and secured it with the screw. 3 days later, no rattle. FINALLY quiet.
Other mods, strut bar and mud flaps. Planned mod, brake kit ( Stoptech Stage 2 Sport Kit Subaru WRX 2009-2013 at RallySportDirect.com) and 245/45r17 tires. About 18k miles, last 250m day trip I averaged 25.2 mpg. Last day trip with the guys without the wife, 120~miles 19.2mpg.
if you're still reading - thanks for taking the time!
