Motor oil 07 STI
Is the motor oil for a 07 STI synthetic?
If not, how would I clean out the oil in my engine to change it to synthetic?
I'm at 720 miles on my car and people said I should go to synthetic around 1000.
Royal purple? Suggestions?
Thanks

It's really up to you - everyone has different schools of thought on when to switch over. I did the switch at 20k. Most people believe the engine is broken in at 1k, but I gave mine until 20k miles to make sure it was truly broken in before I switched. So far, I'm lucky, I don't burn oil in my STi
. I'm at 32k miles now.

So should I just do a normal oil change but add in royal purple?
or
Should I do something special to flush out the left over oil because im switching over to synthetic?

My WRX has a build date of 2/2006; I bought it 8/2006; it had 51 miles on it; the f-in tint shop put 1.5 miles on it (bastards); so at 102 miles I dropped the oil and went straight to synthetic.
I don't use Mobil-1. I have zero problems.
There is no flush procedure. You get the oil nice and warm, drain the pan and drop the filter. Prime the new filter and then install it. Fill up the engine with approximately 4.5 quarts of oil (there's about 0.3 in the filter that you primed).
Take it for a ride. Go back home. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Check the oil, and top off if necessary.
Happy Motoring!
