I'm a newbie agian....

Hey everyone, My name is Joe. Been modding my toyota for years but it was never enough so I finally let her go and upgraded to this 06' I'm very interested to see if anyone recognizes this STi I bought last week, I know it was owned by an older gentleman in his 40's from Wyoming but ended up in the Chicagoland area within the past year or so. He was the only owner and did some racing at Road America. One last thing there are quite a few mods on this subie, If a guru could let me know more about my ride then the obvious, I would greatly appreciate it, Thank you in advance!

As you've probably noticed already, the APS piping for the FMIC rubs on the hood of the car when the hood is closed. There's a tell tale wear spot on the top of the I/C piping. This is normal for the product's fitment, but doesn't make it "right". Obviously if the MAF sensor were to be removed, then the pipe wouldn't be "forced" upward into contact with the hood. So, fudge with the MAF sensor location on the APS intake, and then order a new replacement section of I/C piping from APS, or powdercoat the pipe (but it prob won't match up exactly with the remaining APS piping. If it doesn't bother you that the pipe rubs on the hood from the MAF sensor, then ignore what I've said, as it does NOTHING negative to the setup. I know this because I ran that FMIC and piping for well over a year with 0 problems except for the wear issue on the top bit of the pipe. Mine got so bad that the pipe lost all red powdercoating in the spot and was blackened lol. Also, did the car come with engine management hardware? A COBB Accessport, or something along those lines? You'll probably want a tune if you haven't already, for the FMIC, exhaust, intake, etc. How does the car run? Any idle issues, CEL's, boost creep, fuel cut?

Enjoy your stay here!

Thanks for the info and warm welcome

As far as what she's putting down, I need to get it on a dyno to know for sure, but the dealer said the previous owner told them 400whp Over 5 at the crank. Not sure about management, where should I look? I'm not an idiot but this car is very confusing to me. Has a CEL saying missfire on #4 and got the flashing cruise thing going on. Idle is low in my opinion, but she runs very strong, no fuel cut. Boost guadge is say'n 22lbs. Do you think it's the stock or aftermarket turbo? Know it's a cat-less downpipe. Any reccomendations for a tune shop around Chicago burbs?

Without any doubt, I would call AMS and schedule an appointment with them to have their tuner check your car's ECU and see if it's been flashed with something. Could be COBB, Ecutek, OpenSource, etc. They're the ones to call. Lucky bastard to live near AMS. They may be famous for Evo's, but they're the ones I'd go to if I lived in Chitown. Their website is http://www.amsperformance.com/
