Hard turning
Still gettin aquainted with my car...but was wondering if anybody else has the same problem. I have an 05 STI, when I'm almost stopped the steering becomes hard to turn to the point where it feels there's no power steering. I've checked the fluid and its fine, and I've compared to my buddy's wrx and his is fine. Is this normal?
If you, or a previous owner, ever did donuts in the dirt or snow with the wheel at full lock, the PS pump may have been damaged. It doesn't always show up right away.
Besides that, check the belt for signs of slippage. The same belt runs the alternator so if you see the battery light come on at the same time it gets hard to steer, that's a strong sign the belt is slipping.

Got one pulled off a wrecked wrx from a subaru pick-n-pull for like $140
