Future Subaru Owner?

Hey guys, I've always been a big fan of Subaru's ever since my family owned one back in 1984 living in Alaska. I believe they had the EA 82 Hatch. Anyways I'm trying to convince my girlfriend to get an Impreza. I'm a car guy and like fixing cars, have done a lot of work on my 300zx TT and would love to get my hands on a nice Impreza. So I'm hoping to find a nice Impreza out there that I can build up and make look nice as well as have something that can actually run in the winter.. because let me tell you having a torquey 300zx TT is no fun with snow! Anyways would love to hear what's the best year for Impreza's and any ideas on what I should do on a build up.

a z32? post up pics!

02-03 wrx are nice. the 98-01 can be found in a two door and are lighter and you can do a motor swap on them.

98-01 is a very good year to get. They are cheap to get, fun to work on, and the final product of impreza projects always turns out great.

If you don't want to send so much time and money on a regular Impreza I recommend Wrx's. 02-present.

02-03- bug eyes, EJ205, TD04, usually have crap trans.
04-05-(my favorite) blob eyes, EJ205, TD04. Performance similar to bug eyes except better trans and different interior/exterior.

06-07- hawk eyes, EJ255, TD04, different 5th gear, different interior/exterior

a price range would really help. obviously STIs are nice and have the 6 speed instead of the more fragile 5 speed, but are not as cheap. if you want a nice swap car the 98-01 impreza is really the best in looks and weight. you can swap in WRX or STi engine, tranny, etc realtively easily.

98-00

Yah we're looking at finding a 98-00 Subaru Impreza. The price range would probably be something around $4000 for a decent Impreza with at most 120,000 miles? Is that pretty reasonable for just a basic Impreza? I'll try to put up pics of my 300zx TT. It's a stock TT for the most part with a few tasteful mods.

How she looks as of right now!

Here is my stock 300zx Black on Black TT. (Photos are when I first got her in Dec 08' not much has changed exterior-wise) She's got a single JWT pop charger, megan racing down pipes, straight pipes, Sebring exhaust, RPS Clutch and flywheel, and an upgraded ECU with boost jets. Obviously want to upgrade her some more with larger fuel injectors, godspeed intercoolers and a new fascia/front bumper.
