Smile Cobb Access tune

So I got one off of craiglist and want to install it. Don't really feel comfortable doing it my self. I'm really badwith these kind of things. If there are any tips or things I should know. I do know that my harness under the steering wheel might be faulty because when I check checkengine light the device turns on and off if I don't hold it into place. Anyway I bought 2003 wrx with stuff done to it. I don't know what exactly but i know I have down, up pipe, and it's catless. I seems that it need a tune bad because I have lots of lag and is burning way too much gas , I can smell it, my wife smells it on me everyday I drive. Any thoughts , sugestions, tips are welcome. I'm new with subarus and for that matter any car since it's my first real car. Thanks, Bogdan

Assuming you got the AccessPort 1.0 which looks like this

Go here, scroll down the page, and get the Users Guide & AccessPort Manager :

ECU Maps can be found here :

well....you might wanna find out if there are any other mods to the car before you throw a cobb map on your car. usually there are different cobb maps for different mods on the car and different fuel. tell you the truth i wouldnt run a ecu map that comes with the access port. i say this because most of the cobb maps are tunned with cobb aftermarket parts, all aftermarket parts are different so possibly in the long run you can be hurting your car. i would suggest finding a good local subaru tuner and have him tune your car for the mods it has.

The lag should disappear when you load the Stage 1 tune onto your car. The stage one tune will even out your throttle, boost will kick in earlier, and the accelerator will be a little less sensitive. As for the gas burning and the smell, its a catless, it will smell no matter what.

You probably smell like gas because of an exhaust leak and the fumes are getting in the cabin. If it was just running rich you would only smell it in from behind the car/exhaust. Figure out exactly what mods you have first you can flash the correct map. If I was you, I would find a tuner/shop that specializes in subaru and have them straighten everything out for you. Good Luck
