Most of us live in California. We're having a drought right now. Haven't had a real amount of rain since November. There's been a lot of fires recently. We feel for you.
I saw the US on the news again tonight with your incredibly cold winter. Snowed in airports and roads etc.. Looks beautiful.. I am 60 and never seen snow.. The rexs must love that cold weather...It was 97 degrees here today and I have been hiding in the air-conditioning.. Melbourne has been over 105 almost every day for over a week with raging fires and over a hundred homes lost...Australia is like that.. Floods and droughts..Anyway be careful on the ice and snow.. Cheers..

Perth is Booming.. Real estate values have skyrocketed over there.. Lots of gold and oil and uranium just waiting to be dug up. They get lots of rain in the north and about 40 or more years ago the built the ORD River Development http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ord_RiverSo they now have one of the best vegie gardens in the world to feed them so i think Perth will be around for a while yet. I lived there for a year.. Beautiful place. Nice beaches and forests down south. Long drive from where I am in Brisbane..2700 miles...(4347klm)
Like someone already mentioned, California has been in a drought for a while. I think I was reading online it said since 1895 was the last time that Cali was in a drought. The weather has been beautiful, but it almost hurts to say that the weather is beautiful because it should be raining and it hasn't. But in the mid states and east cost is either in a blizzard or is raining too much. I gotta say, it is a scary thing.

Cal gets it water from the Hoover Dam ?? Is that right? How is that holding up.. Is it fed by melting snow in the Rockies and that feeds the Colorado River.. If this is a stupid question ...sorry. I am not all that familiar with the US except for TV..
