Sir XLNC's Bio
Intrigued by how the music at nightclubs was seamlessly mixed together,
Sir XLNC aka Jason Michaels was determined to learn how it was done
and become skilled at doing it. So, in 2003 he purchased his first set of decks. At first he got them to produce sounds similiar to that of a train wreck. Finally, after getting the idea to count the number of beats a track had per minute, the train wrecks faded and started to sound more and more like actual club mixes. Eventually he started making mixed tapes for several of his friends and playing at various house parties. However he never really persued his dream until about a year later...
In 2004, he moved to Cleveland from the suburbs, where the DJ bug bit
him hard. Being surrounded by the club scene downtown he couldn't help falling deeper into his love of spinning and making people groove. "In Cleveland I was able to learn a lot abour DJing as an art-form. Some of
the local had befriended me and where always giving me ideas and
advice." Eventually, Jason started spinning at "Metropolis", one of the old school hot nightspots on Cleveland's Flats West Bank
By the end of 2004, he had made a name for himself through out the city and started spinning major events in the area, but also decided to host a weekly open tables night at smaller intimate venue in Cleveland called
Rain. "This was great for me because I was able to polish my skills and boost my confidence as a club DJ."
Today, Jason has a residency at Rain and Bachus in Cleveland, and is on Tru Productions Regional All-Star Roster playing events such as DJ Icey, George Acosta, DJ Colette, Danny Howells, and Oakenfold/Corsten/Deep Dish just to name a few. He also heads the promotional crews for Tru Productions, Cloud 9 Ultra Lounge, Moda Nightclub, Bacchus and Rain.
His favorite music styles are Tribal, Progressive House, and Funky House.
"I've got to admit, I'm not big on anthems unless they're really good. I'm
also very picky as to what else I'll play at the club, it has to be really good
or I won't play it." "When playing live, I love to communicate with my audience through my music. Sometimes I'll try to creat a story line with
the tracks I choose"
Next time you hear Jason spin, pay attention to his song choices, he just might be trying to tell you something!
