I wouldn't change out the Epic for the Rize. If you were picking it up as a second bike, that's a different story. Since you really enjoy XC, coupled with the fact that you race, the Epic is perfect.

Lance, have you heard anything about Trek's new line? I've narrowed my replacement for the Enduro to the new Nomad, the Trek Remedy 8, or the Turner RFX (after the 2009 re-design of course).

I don't race 'competitively' though. I go race for the fun of it - especially early in the season when I wouldn't be riding on a weekday otherwise. I really liked riding that boulder and some of the other big stuff on the prophet, and would like to do a bit more of that stuff in the future. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to swing another bike next year when I have my car paid off.

Not really...you know I'm an SC fan so I don't pay too much attention to the other line-ups. I just know that my friend Whitney (Matt you know him too) who pretty much rode a SS fully rigid (even on HITG) just got the Trek Fuel. So for a guy that can climb like a machine and has very good technical skills it says a lot to me that he picked the Fuel. From what he said he loves that thing but he's just getting use to all the bells and whistles (i.e. gears & suspension).

Who in town sell Trek? Wonder if they demo???

I called Bicycles Plus in Folsom b/c there is a guy I know who used to work at The Wave back when I was a grom. He said they have a Remedy 7 but wouldn't be getting any more bikes until the '09s roll in. I would definitely want the Remedy 8 just b/c of the Lyrik.

The shop sells Spec, Trek and SC. I guess one of the main guys working there just switched off a Nomad to the Remedy. I'm starting to hear good things about their new suspension design. It doesn't have the boutique branding, but if it rides well...

The heat soak on my ankle seems to have worked so I will be there. Bert is also going to be there at 8:30 and probably along with another person. So it looks like we will probably have 4. Bert wants to do Salmon Falls and come back on Sweetwater. He and I did that last time and that worked pretty well.

Hey Nelson - let me know if you or Kevin needs pads. I have an extra set of elbow and knee/shin pads you guys can borrow.

Man, good lookin' out! I didn't even think about pads for Kevin. I have my own set, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind having some protection. Thanks

Just got done with a nice blast through GB. I don't think I've ever seen the lake this low in the 11 years I've lived here.

I mean the hardcore xc guys ride it w/o pads, but I'm not hardcore! Butchers is the only rocky section though...so you don't really need them past that but just nice to have just in case.

FYI: Both Don and I rode our mallets peddles

Salmon Falls was fun this morning. Ended up riding with Randy and Bert, and some other guys who work with FATRAC or ride with them regularly. One of the guys, Steve, leads the year-round Tues/Thurs Granite Bay FATRAC ride at 6:30. They take off from Twin Rocks.

Any interest in riding out there this week?

A fun ride today at Salmon Falls. I'm more tired than normal. I guess it was the technical stuff and pushing hard trying to keep up that wupped me. I didn't count, but I think we had around 7 or 8 guys.

I'm not sure about the 6:30 GB ride. Summer heat and weekday traffic are my concerns.
