That depends on if you want to test your mud tires or not.
The only mud hole I couldn't make it through was just before the paved road we cross. I had neither the speed or horsepower to make it. The mud I got on my shoes there got washed off in the ice water stream crossing.

Let's do Cool this Saturday. Clockwise first, counter-clockwise (normal route) second? This is probably the only chance we'll get to ride it until late spring.
Or is this weekend the Olmstead Memorial Race? It *used* to always be around the 14th of February.

The Cool race is March 9 this year.
How slick was it out there, Randy? I'm nervous about falling in a slick muddy section, and also nervous about some of the steeper downhills that are all rock strewn. Was the trail still in good shape?
Let me know and I'll decide if I want to ride up there. If you guys want to go up there, and I'm not comfortable with it, I'm OK with that and understand
. I just need to take care of my leg and myself. Not being able to walk sucks and I'm just now shedding some of the weight I put on while sitting down for 15 weeks

.I just figured with the pleasant weather and Olmstead being on your list of trails you're okay to ride, it might be a good time to hit it.
I'm fine with GB too.

As for the conditions at Olmstead, I wouldn't call the mud slick. It's more like trying to ride through thick glue. The rock sections are not bad right now. I think they are easier than the rock section on the FHLT. In spite of that, I do think that Olmstead would stand a good chance of putting more of a strain on your healing body than Granite Bay.
Matt I think it would be better to not rush things. We will have plenty of time to ride the Auburn/Cool trails a little later. If you are feeling more healed by mid March, we can start riding them then.

Yeah I sort of like GB right now. Seriously though, if you guys want to ride up in Auburn, please feel free. If you dudes ride up there, instead of getting out on the mtb I'll either sleep in (not a bad thing) or get out early and do a nice road ride. I'm happy either way. For me, at this point, it's just nice to be out on a bike

Damn, son, ~$2300 each? There are two bike mechs at REI off Expo that build bikes in their spare time. I'm sure if you made friends you could probably work your way in to something
I have relatives in Medford, so housing isn't an issue. If I'm going to be riding it, I want to learn how to do it right.
