Yeah I think my heads will need a complete overhaul if not replace. I'm sure that makes up for some of it... and a clutch. But it still surprises me that you got a tranny as well. I was figuring it'd be around $5000 for what I want. And maybe because I might need to do some block work? Maybe that did it. Who knows.
I know the quote was fair and I don't question it's validity. I'm sure that's what it would take (I've got mad miles). But it did catch me off guard a little.
More than likely I'm going to either find an STI long block swap or just find a wrecked STI. Hell I'd setting for a 2.5 liter WRX LOL.
Time to start the search. Haaaa.

And both were three weeks or less from first phone call/deposit to driving away from dbtuned
If you want I can scan my invoices and email them to you

Crazy. No it's all good. I trust the man. I'm sure if it came out less he wouldn't hold to that. Just like if it came out more I wouldn't doubt it's validity.
But like I said... man if I'm spending $7k I might as well spend 8-9 and get a whole car. I could go 6 speed with brembos. Flip the interior, glass, good body panels. Scrap the rest. Flip my entire driveline for cheap and end up spending a lot less and having an entirely different car. haaaa.
Or just drive my car until it blows to kingdom come. Sell it for $2000 and find myself a forester its or a newer wagon. If I sold my car for $2-3k right now and added the $7k I'd need to rebuild it I'd have $10k. $10k buys me a half way decent newer or lower mileage wagon. I'm not that attached to my car. Haaa.
$4-5k... sure. $7-8k. No way. Not unless it's 2.5 liter/6 speed when I'm done... and vinyl wrapped. haaaa.

I checked the invoice...motor #2 was put in at 125k...reused heads...the rods and crank were "requalified parts" so they were cheaper than brand new parts
Motor #2 at 141k got rod knock...paul determined that a torn old turbo inlet - bad a/f ratios was the cause so he gave me a new motor (#3) it also got a new turbo inlet, brand new rods and crank.. (he also puts new parts in other peoples motors now as extra insurance since mine had a few issues)
So that could make a big difference in price for the first one

But hell... if it comes to that I'll keep you in mind.
Right now I'm looking at doing a vinyl wrap on it when it's down that will BLOW you guys away. I'm telling you right now it will be the sickest looking wagon you've ever seen. Period.

kind of what? That post tells me nothing?
Just shows me pictures of cars I hate. They took the nice elements of the legacy and screwed them up. It's seriously the ugliest car I've ever seen from subaru. I hate it. Wheels are gross. Everything is gross. I saw a two tone a couple weeks ago. I wanted to throw cut my eyes out or throw rocks at it.
I'd rather keep what I have until Subaru figures out what they're doing... or buy a 2011 hatch.
