not to justify his behavior, but I think balanz may be right, I don't think keith's head was in the right place after the wreck.
anyway, sorry everyone.

this time. and considering how many cars we had i'm just happy we didn't end up running into each other.john... thanks for the pixs.
and chris... don't sweat it. and i too feel like balanz (micheal) when something like a crash happens you really aren't thinking straight. All you want to do is get home. So i'm not blaming him for leaving although i wasn't there and didn't see the damage.

As far as I could tell, there was no livestock in that pasture, or else I think I would've spoken up about the damage to the fence. It was definitely beyond a casual repair - completely plowed down to the ground, fenceposts and all, leaving an opening of 20 feet or so... Technically speaking, this WAS a hit-and-run due to the property damage, no doubt about that.

Truth is, it would have been a bit like a band-aid on a broken leg: If a farmer was going to come driving along and notice a note, he would already have noticed the twenty foot hole in his fence.
Like plead7 said, I didn't see any cows. I guess we could have left a note offering to pay for repairs, but that would have been _KIETH_'s perogotive.
Oh well, next time we'll have a plan!
or not.

I've already posted over there how technical the drive was and that it's a serious thing.

Please don't feel too responsible here, chris.
I can see you feeling badly if it had happened in the first few miles...
"Oh man, I didn't know we'd be going so fast!!!"
But we'd done over a hundred miles when he lost it... he had steadily worked his way up to the front of the pack to try to run with the fast guys. He knew what he was risking by the time he lost it.
It's not on you at all, as far as I can see.
Get some sticky rubber and brakes, and we'll see you out there next time.
