The route for the Golden West 2005 Road Rally is mostly set, although a few roads still have snow on them.
If you enjoy exploring out-of-the-way places on twisty forest roads you MUST participate in this event at some level!
we need pre-checkers, and checkpoint workers
two more pre-check trips, 7/2-3 and 7/9-10 then the main event 7/23,24
So far we have 9 teams signed up, one from Canada, one from Arizona, it is going to be EPIC

We're down to 3 weeks between now and the Rally- and as of this weekend we have all of 3 entrants from Northern Cal.
It's a shame that with such a huge population base, the largest SCCA region in the country, and so many excellent Rally roads all through the north half of the state- that we're probably going to be looking at the end of Road Rallying here since nobody is apparently interested in it.
Really pathetic if you ask me, I might just have to move to Canada.....

I would a slightly lowered wagon do on the roads up there?
I can slap my stock tires on there if need be or try to borrow something better than lowprofile all weathers on 17's.
Looks like something I'd be into....

Although I'd probably suggest the stock rims just to have a little more sidewall between the rocks and your rims.....

I think it would be sweet to get my hands on a somewhat detailed map/driving directions to these trailheads so i could go drive them myself next time I'm up that way.
Any ideas?

If you choose the last option, I'd suggest you start with the Benchmark map atlas of California, available at most bookstores.

Trust me, had I had the option, I would have probably done option two, possibly even option 1. However, I'll be out of the country and preparing to be out of the country the weekends prior, along with a taking a whole host of summer school classes during the week in Santa Cruz, so I'm quite busy.
I suppose I'll have to pester someone after the rally. I have a great atlas, and have searched out pleanty of roads, I was merely interested in driving parts of the actual course just for fun. But none the less, thanks for the suggestions.

Pester me after, I am working the rally and am going to attempt to make an MS Map point of the 3 stages... If that is OK with Pete.
