anyone up for a 130 mile drive through the mojave desert????
i figured i'd throw it out here too...
the road is the famous MOJAVE ROAD:

right now, the tentative plan is to start the trip at the barstow end (normally, the trip is run on an east to west direction, starts out from laughlin and ends at barstow) and run it for 2 days. although a third day is planned, just in case.
while 4 wheel drive is recommended, the bigger requirement is ground clearance, unless you dont mind banging your undercarriage a bit.
also, there are a couple water crossings so...
anyways, the planned date is sept 4, 2008 until the sept 6th or 7th.
since we will be in the middle of no-where, be SELF SUFFICIENT in everything, including bringing an extra 5 gallons of gas with you...

I would love to go with my new KTM 640 LC4...It looks like Baja speeds, but then again youd be done in a few hours at baja speeds...so its like 20 mph since they say it takes a couple days?

Im gonna try to hit up the Rubicon with my bike and a friend, but some say heavy bikes cant make it very well, only lighter dirtbikes can, but mine is only 100lbs more than a 220 lb dirtbike...
I would get a 4x4 but yeah thats esspensive. My friend has a Exo Comanche with super beefy drivetrain and he still F's S up

having mountain biked much of the Rubicon trail myself several times, all I can say is you'd better have some "hellamad trial skillz" if you're going to muscle a KTM through some of that
