Sunday drive, 12/1 "Drive through Tree"
"Drive through trees" used to be popular tourist attractions decades ago, but most have fallen down or are no longer accessible.
There is one left up north in the town of Leggett, where Highway 1 and 101 meet.
I will be driving up there on December 1st, probably directly up 101, then returning via back roads out by the coast, does anybody else want to come along?
It's a little longer drive than the usual "meet", expect about 5-7 hours on the road depending on return options, but it should be fun!

Ah, so as I expected, some of you have been there, but have you gone through this one?
(Dang stupid web page won't let me post a picture.....whats up with that?)
Anyway- I found that there is a second one, -still "drive through-able" about 45 miles farther up, off the "Avenue of the Giants" in Myers flat, and lots of fun roads between here and there......
So is anybody up for a road trip next weekend?

And then there's Boonville......
Maybe if I pitched this as a beer run we'd get a little more enthusiasm (not to encourage illegal behavior or anything)....... or how about:
BAIC Emerald Triangle Harvest Fair Tour?
What do I have to do to get people to come out for a drive?
(buncha sissies.......)

Its going to happen, even if I do it alone!
If you want to join me, here are 3 locations to meet up;
6:45-7:00 AM, Pyramid Brewery Parking lot, 8th Street at Gilman in Berkeley.
I will be leaving there promptly at 7:00
7:25 to 7:40 AM, Marin Civic Center, parking lot off Armory drive, just SE of Civic Center Lagoon.
I will be leaving there promptly at 7:40
9:10-9:20 AM refueling at Hopland Exxon, US101 in Hopland.
From there I plan to visit the Shrine Tree in Myers Flat before noon, touring back on the Avenue of the Giants, then stopping by the Chandelier Tree in Leggett about 1:00- with an adveturous drive to follow.
Including (but not limited to) a run on dirt roads to Hearst. California, in the mountains east of Willits.
Anyone with nothing better to do this Sunday should consider coming along.
Otherwise have yourselves a nice weekend.
