well first of all, welcome. Good choice with the 5-speed, legacy auto's are no fun (my dad has one). There is tons of stuff to do from a drop in air filter to a full turbo kit. I'd say look at Cobb tuning and visit www.rallitek.com and just browse the mods out there. My first mods were a cat-back exhaust, borla headers and an intake from rallitek, really changed the car. I also got some larger rims and tires, those were a good idea, but it sounds like your more interested in power. I'd say do the headers, exhaust and a perrin drop in filter and then if you still want more then high flow cat, pulleys and a comp and if you really want a fast legacy turbo the 2.5 or drop in a JDM EJ20t (subaru WRX sti engine from overseas). Good luck and go ahead and ask if you have any more q's

Any time you starting doing Mods to a vehicle you run a risk of shortening it's life, and the more you do the more likely it is to shorten it. Now as long as you aren't going with FI the risks are very small.

There's some good go fast bits here.

I'd say go with a Cobb CAI + full exhaust, then maybe a lightweight flywheel and upgraded clutch, that would be a sweet setup for your car if you ask me.

You don't have to baby it, just don't abuse it; there's a difference. Clutch drops and high-PRM launches with stock power mean that, since the tires can't spin (too much grip with AWD) allthe power has to go somewhere. It's going to smoke the clutch, or chew the gears. Guys break trannies and rear ends on FWD's and RWD's too when they put sticky tires on 'em and start abusing them.

Just don't launch it like it's a honda (or 300ZX) and you'll be totally fine.
