New to the Subaru scene! I like this site because it feels like the old air-cooled VW crowd and 4wheelin' crowd I'm used to. Always willing to help!!!!!
What codes pertain to my wagon's body type, engine type, anything and everything to help me shop for performance and cosmetic products. Looking to build "our sleek, sleeper, sports family wagon." Want to look good then add just a little umphh to the motor.
Here's what we got:
2003 Silver SE L Legacy Wagon
5 speed
Thaks for the help. Aloha.

cool!
Thanks to all and I got it BH EJ25. Now the shopping begins! Window shopping at least! Looking for suggestions:
Which lowering springs and average cost?
Which basic engine mods (intake and exhaust) and average cost?
I'm willing to run on stock 16" until new tires are needed. Then 17's or 18's will be on the agenda.
Aloha.

Great choice! My brother's got an '01 GT sedan (BE) and my sister's got an '02 GT Wagon (BH). They both really like their cars. We're a Legacy family. Not to mention my fiancee has an '00 Impreza 2.5RS. I would definitely do bigger rims/tires. I'd also look at the GanzFlow intakes. Larry's a good guy that's been into Subaru's for a long while now. We put one on the RS and it's been great. The butt-dyno says it's a little faster

Nice to hear from someone local, we're in Pleasant Hill.
How much bigger on the rims while still being able to lower the car? I'll probably lower the car before the rims and tires because we only have 13k miles. Any pictures of your Subaru collection?

If you are going for looks.....18's with some springs should do the job.
If you are planning on making it handle well.....try this...
Replace the rear sway bar first. Also not a bad idea to upgrade your tires at the same time. 17 x 7.5 wheels are good sizes for Legacys, but choose your wheel according to they type of settings you want.
I would not install the springs first.......what if you don't like them? Maybe the wheels and sway bar is more than enough for your application.
Just my opinion. Hope you are not offended by my opinion.

Thanks Charlie! No offense taken, I appreciate everyone opinions and experiences.
I would do things in stages and the first would be suspension. Honestly looks and performance are 50:50. In the winter if We're heading up to the snow I want to be able to slap on the stock 16's.
As far as the 17's or 18's debate, which springs lower the wagon what heights?, as to say "these springs lower the car 1.5 inches, these springs lower the car 2 inches, these springs lower the car 2.5 inches" Then which lowered height allows for 17" and 18" rims? What offset is right?
I'm not looking to race the wagon or anything. It's our family (2 dults, 1 kid, 1 dog and "all the stuff") commute/get around car. I believe "form follows function". I'm basically building a good looking, uncompromised, a little bit more than stock wagon.
